This beautiful female Monarch butterfly emerged from her chrysalis yesterday. My first encounter with her was when she was merely a tiny cream colored egg on the underside of a milkweed leaf. I brought her inside, along with several siblings, to take care of. When it came time to release her, I put her on a geranium plant where she stayed for perhaps thirty minutes or more, allowing me to photograph her. Before flying away, she landed on my head. I think this was her way of saying goodbye!
Do you think she'll make it to Mexico? Very nice, love the spots on the body.

I am sure there will be many obstacles along the way but I certainly hope she does arrive in Mexico safely...:)
