I need to do some organizing of a mass of photo files. I plan on purchasing Lightroom 3 to do this. I know that there are newer versions of Lightroom, but I can not use them on my computer according to Adobe. I have Windows XP, Pentium (R)D, 3.4 Ghz, with 2.99 RAM. I am not good with computers and do not want to reformat and install a newer version of windows. I am very happy with my system now for what I do on it. Am I wrong in doing this and wasting money? I am retired and on a fixed income; I can't afford to waste money.

You will not be wasting money - LR's prime function is organising which v3 is as good as v5. What you may miss out on is the Raw conversion (if you use it) but even that can be got round by using the DNG converter.

I have noticed the price in the States is quite reasonable for V3, in the UK the price has been doubled and is much higher than the full version of LR5, I know it is all about supply and demand, but doubling the price of old software is just not right.
