Hi everyone, I have a Nikon 1 V1 camera and like it a lot, but still would like to have a quality compact "pocket" camera to carry as I am missing some photo opps. now from lack of camera availability and readiness. The catch is that I don't want to sacrifice image quality, plus I really need a good viewfinder in case there is glare on the LCD!
Lately I have read about the Panasonic Lumix LF 1 that does have a VF, but there are two problems: 1. There are no retailers near me that sell Panasonic, and I really would like to check out that VF before buying. 2. Also, does anyone know what the image quality is like from this camera?
Thanks for your help!

Check out Steve's Digicam.com. They have excellent reviews or just google Lumix LF1 reviews in your browser. The viewfinder is not great, but at least it has one. I know a couple folks, not pros, who seem to like their LF1. Many of us face the distribution problem on non Nikon and Canon cameras. The popularity of a camera brand is linked with hands on access to a model. With so many folks looking and then buying on a price we have made the store experience less and less possible.
Thanks Photog, I'll check that review.

You may want to look at the Canon G16 has optical VF which I find more than sufficient.
Thanks Ole Sarg, The G 16 looks good, but I'll have to check whether it's pocket size.

Thanks for the links Jerry, I'll check them out. I hadn't heard of the Coolpix A. It's hard to keep up this time of year!

Check out Sony Nex series. Fantastic.
Thanks cheineck! I'll do that.

This new model (GM 1) has an electronic shutter which should allay your concerns of a noisy shutter. The sensor on this new camera is same as on the new GX7. Reviews I have seen of the GX7 indicate its sensor is very good in terms of noise at high ISO's.
