The hidden "fine print" in Obamacare applications

When people in Maryland sign up for Obamacare, they are agreeing to some actions that are hidden in the "fine print" that most people have a tendency to disregard:

Some of these actions concern law enforcement activity, and email privacy.

I imagine that most states have similar "fine print" in their applications.

That bit in the terms agreement looks very much like the terms that have already been on all government employment applications for decades, including those of state and local. I'm quite sure I've seen them on Federal student loan applications as well. Nothing new really.

Seems to me that should be a legitimate reason to reject participation and should be litigated in the court system before paying any tax penalties associated with non-participation, wonder if we can find an attorney to take up the cause.

rook2c4 ... perhaps similar wording is on government employment applications, and even student loan apps. But, anyone wanting insurance is not applying for a job nor for a loan. Supposedly, they are applying for healthcare insurance ... but maybe that has extenuating, hidden repercussions.

Beyond that it is a contract of adhesion but what is worse than that is that the government forces you to get it under penalty of law, now there seems to be a cohesion going on here that seems a little illegal to me, it is not a contract that you can walk away from with out being exposed to perverse governmental action against you, they are in effect forcing you to agree to give up your information to law enforcement and auditing agencies or be subjected to tax penalties. Not a lawyer, but seems to me that there are some 5th amendment considerations here that have not been well thought through.

Oh, I imagine they've been well thought through ... by some smart people trying to entrap unsuspecting people into something that can be used against them in the future.

Really? I don't remember accepting the government sharing my personal information with law enforcement without a warrant when I took out student loans....

This is basically part of HIPA the existing law on privacy that is used when authorities et al are quoted "They cannot release medical information due to privacy laws." You have probably signed this same thing in your doctors office and have definitely signed it if you were admitted to a hospital. While it is intrusion to your personal life it still requires LEO's to get a warrant. They just don't get it for the asking.
