I need help with this photo. Would one of you please do something to the background behind the dog to blur out, get rid of the legs and other distractions. In my hurry to run out and take this photo when I should have been inside working, I did nothing to make this a good photo. I didn't even change the settings from my earlier shooting. Just aimed and fired. Yes, I did get caught coming back in.

I do very little pp usually only cropping and slight exposure adjustment. Windows Live Gallery is what I normally use. I have elements 10 but it don't know how to use it. (I promise if you help me I will read every book watch every video to get myself up to speed and help someone else down the line)

The reason I'm not just sending him this photo as is is because he is a major editor with the local paper and the head of their photography dept was my first DSLR instructor. He knows that, coming from film, you try to get the most accurate photo at the time you push the button. I'm not embarrassed to admit to getting pp help but I am at letting them see how bad it is.( Frankly, I'm embarrassed to post it.) I greatly appreciate anything you can do. If I have screwed it up so badly that nothing can be done I'll just swallow my pride and deal with it. I am going to attach the original photo also in case someone needs to go back to the begining. Thank you!!!!

My selection and masking skills aren't up to providing a professional-level job, but there are many people here who can do this and I'll bet someone will soon help you. This doggie can be saved. Beautiful dog, by the way! And nice photo of him/her, except for the human legs of course. :-P

I don't know whether this is what you want. I have removed the disturbing background part completely and replaced it with pavement. Let me know if that works for you.

That is much better!! There is a spot near his front and rear feet that is missing. Would you patch that please? Once I have the corrected photo how do I save it back to my computer?

Thank you! This gentleman brought him into the store the day he picked him up from the breeder and I have watched him grow into this handsome boy. I just had to get a picture.

As for getting it to your computer, I don't know about Adobe Elements 10 that you have. With Adobe CS6, which is what I have, I can *right-click* on the image and choose from the scroll "Copy Image". then I go to Adobe and click on Open>New. The new blank window that opens already has the proper dimensions. Then Go to *Edit* on the menu bar click "Paste". That should get the blank fill with the image that you copied and is in memory. I hope this works for you with Adobe Elements.

THis one is pretty good too but on the right side of the dog image by his head it looks like part was cut off in the fur.

Thanks BrentHarder. I like yours equally well, but I appreciate your generosity.

If you can handle another version??? The technique is simple,
just create a new identical layer, then FILL with black. Reduce the transparency so you can see the image beneath and use a soft eraser tool to erase within the dog's image, revealing the brighter image below. Any places where you light erase beyond the dog by accident can be burned in on the lower original image.

Thank you, Brent!! I appreciate you taking time to work on this. I'm going to send him all the pictures, that way he and his wife can pick what they like.
