I know very little about US politics nor would I take the liberty to interfere but let me tell you about the UK NHS.
No matter what is wrong with me albeit a cold to a serious operation it will be done efficiently and free of charge.
Now there are drawbacks. It is extremely expensive and consequently we pay high taxes. It takes a big slice of GDP that could be used for other things. Because of the great demand waiting time for operations can be prolonged unless they are life threatening. We have to employ many overseas doctors because of the demand.
Having said that there are very few people in the UK that would change it to any other system.

What you said above is basically all I know about your health system... but you say a few things that I find problematic...

Very High Taxes .... That is obviously a need to pay for the health program.... We, In my opinion, pay plenty of taxes here.

Very Expensive.... Ours is high enough currently thanks...lol

Long Waits..... I needed a heart attack in 1987. Diagnosed on a wednesday, operation on Thursday. (same week) In 1995 I needed an operation due to Malignant Melanoma. Diagnosed on Tuesday and Operated on on Thursday. (Same week)..

I am Satisfied... Thanks for the Information though.

If you stopped subsidising the arms industry to get involved in wars that have nothing to do with you, your taxes would could be better spent on health care.

You say it's FREE? You pay for it in high taxes. Our Obamacare is not free but I can see higher taxes coming just the same to pay for it.

I don't care how good a government system might seem, I just don't want to be obligated to government officials for every aspect of my life. It's bad enough now with the government regulations on private healthcare. It will only get worse.

Nothing in this world is free. Of course you have to pay more in tax. My wife died in hospital, it was unavoidable but right up to the end she got the best treatment available. I could never have afforded to pay for it myself. We all paid through taxes and I'm gratefull for it. If that makes me a socialist then so be it.

The next time America has a natural disaster, I hope all the other countries of the world send us some of their tax money. I also hope the people of those countries will have neighborhood fund raising events to raise money for the Americans.

I won't hold my breath though, cause it'll be a long time coming.

In the case of a heart attack our NHS would be as speedy as your health care.

To my American friends. I am not saying you should adopt our system all I am saying is that it is unlikely that any UK citizen would swap our NHS for any other system. It is not without faults and it is not perfect but we love it.

I wonder why that would be, could it be that, Americans seem to throw money about as if it grows on trees, you are supposed to be the richest country in the world.
When I lived in the UK many years ago, we had insurance cards, is that system still in place.
