If you spend 5 years in prison for attempted murder, are you then legally allowed to put on your CV that you spent the last 5 years in prison for a crime you didn't commit? I have no personal reason for asking this, it was just a thought.

What is your "CV"? Is just for the British or for everyone?

But it was only attempted. You didn't actually do it. I've thought about killing certain poititions, does that make me guilty?

A CV is what you in America would call a resume.

I thought so and went looking for the answer but no luck. I would think that if the court has cleared you then your arrest record should be cleared as well, except in the case of sex offenses, innocent or not that stays with you for life.
I have never been arrested so I wouldn't know, but thinking it is not a crime. Thinking it and saying it can get you into trouble. Just between you and me, the bible says if you think it then you have committed murder in your heart already. Saying that, I have committed a lot of murders in my life.

Your question concerns being convicted of attempted murder not murder. Thinking, attempting and doing are entirely different. Two are crimes and the other isn't. You can threaten a person verbally or in written form and that can be a crime especially when it is directed at the POTUS or a head of state. As far as a resume goes, why admit an arrest record unless you are specifically asked? You would have to account for those '5 years' somehow. Many job 'applications' will ask "have you ever been arrested" but resumes are different. How many people have you attempted to murder?

Bangee, as you probably know I have no belief in the Bible. I know you do and I respect that. But do you really believe that thinking about something is the same as doing it? I ask because I would like to understand, not because I want to belittle your beliefs.

When applying for a job in the United States you do not have to volunteer that you were convicted of a crime but you must answer truthfully if asked.
Personally I've looked at a lot of resumes and I've never seen one that lists a felony conviction on it.
The other part that I think you may be confused about is that Attempted Murder is a crime in and of itself. You don't have to be a good murderer to be convicted, you can be convicted of the attempt or even conspiracy to commit murder or Criminal Facilitation.
As to saying you were wrongfully convicted; everyone in prison has been wrongly convicted.
If you don't believe me, just ask them.

I would never hire a person that was convicted of attempted murder. If they are that incompetent they wouldn't work for me especially if I needed a hit man.

Okay maybe I worded that wrongly. Could you say I spent the last five years in prison for a murder I didn't commit?

If it is a Resume (CV) and you are looking for a new job, you in effect write a resume to sale yourself to the new employer. You make yourself look as good as you can to get the job. You do not say anything that would prevent you from getting the job. What do you have to offer? Sale your yourself.
If need, go on line a google , "how to write a resume".
