I just spent the last three plus hours watching my favorite NFL team. I felt a twinge of guilt and sorrow that our servicemen and women overseas are denied that privilege by our spiteful and petulant commander-in-chief.

I doubt he has the wherewithal to comprehend the irony of that vexation on our troops. So on behalf of our peevish and petty president, please accept my apology.

It is my belief he knows exactly what he's doing, I also apologize to Service Men and Women for his actions.

Agreed, it is more important for the President and Democrats to give in on Obama care and to denied insurance to those with pre-existing conditions than it is to deny NFL live broadcasts to the troupes fighting our glorious republican wars; viva GW Bush the last good president.

It is also inexcusable to deny us another war in Syria and allow Russia's Putin to cooperate with us and get mixed up with that UN world government thing to get rid of poison gasses.... well what will I watch after the NFL games are over if we do not have an active war. Wars are sort of a proxy football game... I long for those day as a child when we actually would see during Saturday Matinee bodies of blown apart solders in Europe.. that was almost as good as NFL brain damaged guys battering heads... Ya gotta love gore.. Glad we can all put things in prospective, I love my NFL team.

Your sarcasm aside, the original post was not advocating for any specific outcome to the present political, governmental or economic conundrums. It was pointing out that the president is a petty bully.

We don't know enough about the specifics to know whether you present a false choice here. What is the cost of providing live NFL broadcasts to the troops? We know that Obama has expended more resources to deny access to the World War II memorial than to allow it. And we know that closing the memorials was not done during shutdowns by any prior president of either party which shows that necessity cannot be honestly argued as a reason.

Given his track record, I would not trust that any high profile closing is done by Obama for the reason of lack of funding without seeing the financial details. I hope there is an investigation of the financial impact and whether it cost more to close many of the parks and monuments than to leave them open.

My comments were in agreement, just stated what you put forth but differently. You may better define them as Social Irony or at worse Sarcastic Situational irony. We can call it as an 'Irony of Events' are those that involves actions that has contrast effects on what you expected to have. If you were expecting a certain outcome the opposite happened. I was suggesting that your ego self-centered focus on the NFL games and to assuage your guilt you felt it necessary to blame the President... and not the combo of Republicans and Democrats. Although the Republicans set their goal to stop "Obama care" and the ball is already past the goal line while the Republicans are still in the huddle!!

To have a ego self-centered focus on the NFL games is ok. Eat chips and drink beer, OK. Just do not say that it is the Presidents fault that your blood lipids and blood pressure elevate from the fat and salt in the chips. Drink more beer and flush it out!

Your stating that the president was a petulant petty bully suggest/indicates/implies that he should give in on his present position. If not fully, then one bite at a time!!! Important things like the NFL games, The WW2 Memorial are really trivial to the over all picture of the "Full Faith and Credit" of the USA currency which is now the $ standard of trade between countries. Was a lot more solid before Nixon took it off the gold standard wasn't it?!

Too often we say things without viewing the full picture. Actions, tho small can have, when bundled, have significant consequences. ACA is a fact, a law, is in action, impeded only by the name. If called Federal Romney Care it would have been more popular, wouldn't it.

I'm not suggesting that the president give in on his positions (at least in this thread). I'm pointing out that closing part of the ocean to fishing, denying access to war memorials, closing unmanned hiking trails on federal land etc. have nothing to do directly with the government shutdown, do not save the government any funds, and are done as a bully.

And - not to rub salt in the wound - from your location I would guess that my favorite NFL team beat your favorite NFL team yesterday.

The grand expense increase and lowering of quality of care of Romney care and well as the government laying claim to 1/6 of the largest economy on the planet, having the IRS gather this "tax"- so it will no doubt be added to and paid for out of the general fund... where some day it will be raided or parceled out when something important comes up just like social security and the rest have been... and thus ultimately underfunded like all the other government programs are... would be equally UN-welcome to any thinking person.

To ignore the obvious tantrum of sticking it to every person he can well above and beyond the call of duty as demonstrated by other similar events- without considering or caring about individuals situation in any case whatsoever- is a good idea just how individuals will be treated with this new FREE ( Free is democrat for other people paying) service... you will be treated at their whim if they decide you need it.

Welcome to Big Brother citizen care.

Beaming the NFL into a combat zone is a blessing not a vexation on our troops.

I agree. The original post was saying that the denial of that privilege was the vexation.

Before you post you should do some research!

The games were shown overseas!

I guess you tend to watch Faux News and listen to the likes of Hannity, Beck and ORielly!
