I prefer to support my local merchant and have a chance to get gear in my hands... so in that spirit here goes:
Portland Oregon- Pro Photo Supply: 503.241.1112 & 1.800.835.3314
Lucky you. I don't have the luxury of having a good well stocked camera store within a reasonable drive. I have to shop online and find B&H both online and via telecon to be very helpful. I suspect most of us are pretty much in the same boat- most local specialty shops have a hard time competing and have, sadly, closed their doors.

My internet source is someone else's brick & mortar store.

I hear you and what a store it is. ;)
I'll put in a shout out to Norman Camera In Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo Michigan.
In Houston we are lucky to have two stores:
Camera Co-Op: (713) 522-7837
Houston Camera Exchange: (713) 789-6901
Both are very good with knowledgeable staff.
Pitman in Miami is a good choice. Only problem is sales tax but sometimes it is better to get the professional help and pay the tax. Also they frequently have sales better than the internet. Good for prints, friendly, educated staff.

We have Artcraft in Kingston, NY. They have a good assortment of Nikon and Canon. When I bought my D90 there a few years ago, they charged $100 over list. When I asked about a D600, that was also $100 over list. They still sell and process film.

Southern Photo Supply in Melbourne, Florida - still a place you can go and ask questions, take your camera in, touch and feel things.... And since there is so much price-fixing with cameras (didn't they outlaw that?), you get no breaks from internet sites, so when I upgrade to a new Canon later this month I will go there!
National Camera Exchange has 5 stores around the St. Paul/Minneapolis area in Minnesota
Phone: 952-898-4888 in Burnsville
763-425-1417 in Maple Grove
763-450-0921 in Golden Valley
and 2 others.

http://www.natcam.com/Wonderful knowledgeable employees. It is always fun to visit their stores. They have classes too.
I am so lucky here in NY. We have B&H , Adorama, and here on LI we have Berger. of course all these places are really busy, but except for that they are all very helpful and have great consumer policy.
In Rogers, Arkansas We have one Bedford Camera with a fairly nice store but really lacking in a real knowledgeable staff, only 1 or 2 that know much about camera's or photography, I use B&H or Amazon mail order.
