Greetings fellow photographers. I am in need of a reliable aftermarket ink cartridge source for an Epson Stylus Pro 7800 printer. I have had to purchase from various sources due to back order issues (especially for yellow) and would like to have one or 2 reliable sources to rely on for my ink. Am starting the local art show circuit and have to keep up with demand. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Rich

Hey Warrior:

I have an Epson R280 and have been using aftermarket ink for some time with mixed results. I don't print a lot and the printer sits often for days (weeks?) not being used. Do you think this company's ink will work for me under those conditions?

Thanks!

I have tried using several brands of aftermarket inks over the years in both printers and copiers with 100% less than satisfactory results and have had one relatively expensive copier destroyed by leakage.

If you are doing art and photo shows and need "best" prints almost all the printer brands strongly suggest using ink and paper from the same manufacturer. To some extent this is a marketing ploy, but the papers are all somewhat different. If the ink & paper match, the correct ICC color profiles are built into the printer's software for best results; all the printer needs to know is what "style" (gloss, matte, etc.) paper you are using.

The exception is Red River Paper and they have downloadable profiles for each printer/paper combination.

[quote=rrg6481]Greetings fellow photographers. I am in need of a reliable aftermarket ink cartridge source for an Epson Stylus Pro 7800 printer.

I have an Epson Stylus R1800 and get my ink from Epson.com. The only problem I have had with them is that they ship FedEx. Usually FedEx ships to the local P.O. who delivers the ink into my mailbox. Last time FedEx delivered the ink, I was out of town and they left the ink on the porch. Before I got back we had an unusually severe rain storm. The box was soaked, but the ink cartridges were wrapped in bubble wrap which kept them dry.

If you intend use unbranded cartridges I would recommend you get one of these.

Not only will it ensure the printer recognizes the cartridge if you get an error, it will also extend the life of it, as the Epson printers tend to demand a new cartridge even when there is some usable amount of ink left in it.

Check out www.atlex.com. It's the only place I know of that actually discounts real Epson inks. I've been dealing with them for years.

The one and only time they made a mistake on an order I called them up and immediately got a real live person on the phone who took care of the problem.

I have an Epson Stylus Photo 1400 and have used
"Ink Technologies" and "InkJet123" for ink and have been satisfied with both. In the last two years have received a bad cartridge from both. Called their phone, talked with a real person that I could easily understand, and a new cartridge was shipped immediately - no shipping fee on the replacement.

I've had excellent luck at Staples - I print with a Canon Pixma and they always have my tanks.
