Winds of Change....

True says SNOPES

Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in The United States of America will have this message.

This is one idea that really should be passed around.

*Congressional Reform Act of 2013

1. No Tenure / No Pension. A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they're out of office.

2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security. All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.

3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

5. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void effective 12/31/13. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women.

Congressmen/women made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S. ) to receive the message. Don't you think it's time?

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!

If you agree with the above, pass it on. If not, just delete.

I would add term limits... 12 years maximum service which includes both houses. Examples: 6 2-year terms in the house, or two 6-year terms in the senate, or one 6-year senate term and three 2-year house terms. Service is not to exceed 12 years in any event. No exceptions.

Sounds great! Except that the very people who would be directly affected (senators and members of congress) would have to vote this into law. And, I'd bet, they would never even consider it, let alone vote to approve it.

So, how could we, the people, make this happen?

To be clear - Warren Buffett did not write this. This is from an email that's been around which originally opened by quoting Warren Buffett suggesting, "a law that says anytime there is a deficit of more than 3%, all sitting members of congress are ineligable for re-election".
The rest of the viral email (the part posted by the OP) has nothing to do with Buffett and has been morphing by different authors around the internet for several years.
It's still a great idea though!

......also no government health insurance for congress when they retire (that is if they do not assume room temperature before they retire). Let them crooks buy their own insurance on the open market just like the rest of us.

Who would not agree with this..!!! Since when the politician made themselves an especial cast and "we the people" are relegated to second class citizen compared to them..!! But again, the big question: Whom and how this reforms will have any chance to go through> Do you believe that they themselves are going to let the piece of cake they create for them, go? Or do you think they will ask "the american people" what they think and decide?...Com on...guys, legally we are done and please tell me I am wrong,.. that there is another way....Thanks.

Read the whole report Sarge - The 3% quote by Buffett is true. Everything else comes from other sources.

So, how could we, the people, make this happen?[/quote]

This could happen by two thirds of the state Legislatures calling for a constitutional Convention where they would be able to propose amendments to the constitution which would then have to be ratified by three fourths of the states. This would bypass the legislature and the president and give the power back to the states. It's all in Article V of the constitution.

that's too much....one term and out....they must work the full term, not take the last year to campaign for re-election..at our expense, by the way....you ever hear some of these jerks saying "give me more time to finish the good work i have been doing"????that clown has been working on his "good work" for 3 or more terms.....these creatures are disgusting.....it's a shame we can't get candidates to run on buffet's platform, and mean it....
