The Barquentine, Peacemaker, is a floating Museum. It's a restored ship run by a restored crew. The Peacemaker was built on a riverbank in southern Brazil by an Italian family of boat builders, using traditional methods and the finest tropical hardwoods. The Peacemaker is currently in Toledo, OH

An interview with sleepydrdr

1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started?
Just a few months. I gave my husband the camera for Christmas and got interested.

2) Have you had any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?
No training. Most of my photographs are nature or animal shots taken close to home.

3) What inspired you to take your winning shot?
We went to Chickamauga Battlefield to take pictures of deer, and the cannons looked like an interesting shot.

4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup?
Canon SX 50 with a tripod

5) Would you change anything if you could do it again?
No

6) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do?
I work

7) Is there somewhere we can see more of your work?
Just my posts

An interview with Martin A

1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started?
I started getting serious about my photography about 4 years ago when I retired from the work grind and had time to travel.

2) Have you had any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?
I've had no formal training, but I'm an avid learner. Some of my experiences in advertising (graphic design and copyrighting) have certainly helped me. I've won a couple of Caples Awards for direct marketing. My my graphics work has appeared in Print Magazine and in their spin-off books.
I travel a lot now. My camera is always with me and ready. I'm drawn to street photography and b&w most, but I make those decisions afterwards.

3) What inspired you to take your winning shot?
This shot was just there. The Guggenheim Museum screams out to me, "shoot me, shoot me!"

4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup?
No set up was possible. I shot this fast. The place was packed with people. The guards were all around and discouraging photography. I shot this with a point and shoot (Panasonic). I normally shoot with a Nikon D7000 with either a 18-200mm or with a 50mm f1.8.
I used Nik software (Define to help w/ noise and Silver Effects to tweak the image) in post processing.

5) Would you change anything if you could do it again?
I'd love to get back in that museum when there are less (or no) people there. Maybe on my next trip to NY I'll apply in advance to get in early or late. (if they do that) That would be an entirely different kind of experience.
Just an aside... I got some similar feeling shots at the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg, FL.

6) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do?
I don't know. I only have one eye now. (accident) Everybody says I have a tin ear, so I can't go in that direction.

7) Is there somewhere we can see more of your work?
