I paid into social security and medicare and I have private medical insurance. Medicare Part A is part of Social Security and I opted out of Part B. I certainly am opting out of any government run medical programs. Obamacare is socialized medicine which is an abomination. Having lived in two countries that have it, I can tell you that socialized medicine sucks. Just the name Affordable Care Act is an oxymoron. Why do you think the unions want out of it now? When people start realizing how much this is going to cost them the ship will hit the sand. Anything that the Federal Government has been involved in results in a massive screw up. Just look at Social Security, Amtrak, USPS, Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac, out of control government spending and on and on ad finitum!
I have no idea what you are trying to do by comparing S.Africa and the southern states. You should be asking why any sane person, other than those idiots who drank the Obama koolaide, would want Obamacare.

I hope that if you ever get dropped by your private insurer on Part B, you don't expect the taxpayers to pick up your bills if you need services.

I am not on Part B and I am financially secure enough to not have to worry about that. I pay my own way unlike all you Obamaites!

Sorry to disappoint you, but I pay my own way too. Retired after 46 years of work and never took a penny of government money of any kind. I am also financially secure. My investment income dwarfs my SS.
One of the problems with the extreme right is that they tend to stereotype everyone who disagrees with them.
So....what's this about not paying my own way ?
