If one doesn't want to use the Cloud, there are many reasons other than that one. In the past, two of my banks and one credit union were hacked. Facebook has been hacked many times. Google has been hacked. AT&T has been hacked. My cable company was hacked. In every instance, the companies notified me and either reset my password upon their discovery or otherwise required me to reset it.
None of those companies have any sort of cloud subscription services, so Adobe, being as popular as it is, is simply joining a lot of much larger companies in fighting hacking criminals.
No big deal if one is diligent in not using the same password for all one's accounts and changing passwords on a regular basis.
I change passwords every quarter. Beginning on the first Saturday of the quarter, every time I log in to an account I change the password until I have changed passwords on all my accounts.
While that sounds tiresome and extreme, I believe it keeps my identity safe without subscribing to Lifelock.
It helps, I just had my Wireless account hacked or my ss over heard in the phone store (not sure)...and they got my last 4 digits of my SS #, they ordered a phone (which I caught on to) Reported it, traced the order to Connecticut and they were arrested. Although I have a different PW for EVERY site I visit and I too change them regularly, IMO...nothing is safe today if one wants something bad enough.

As my wise old grandmother used to say as she was leaving the house but with the doors and windows open (we didn't have central heating and cooling): "Locks are to keep honest people out."
