Talk about depreciate, cameras are not a sound investment except in the satisfaction and pleasure one gets from using one, how do you place a monetary value on that?
I am looking at a used Nikon f6. New they are about $2300 and I have found LN used ones for around $1000 US dollars. You will love the Mamiya, I have used them. Even used Hasselblads are a steal right now.

Old film cameras are a steal, in fact I can not justify it even at that price, would not use it yet would have died for it once

I still shoot film from time to time. Love the look it gives and I enjoy the "what did I get" waiting. Shooting my Hasselblads is, for me, the best. Must be the sound they make and that large, bright, square viewfinder.

Wow - me too. I think, though, that we have all been sucked in to cocaine high of digital cameras. I look back at photos taken with Ektachrome and think: "oh yeah - THAT is high dynamic range photography"! I don't miss the expense but I do miss the quality.
A kind person has given me a Yashicamat, that I will be donating to Cats Protection, Plymouth, however before I do, I (they know) will be running a few FP4s through it.
Just can't resist.
NOTHING is nicer than setting up a tripod mounting a MF camera and taking readings with my mint Weston Euromaster meter
I guess we all have our passions for whatever but as I was never involved in film except for a box kodak and a polaroid, so for me film is well and truely dead.
I get a real kick when shooting film,of all sizes. I like when younger people stop and want to interupt me when my head is under the curtain and I'm focusing a picture. When they say that's allot of work;all I do is pull out my phone and shoot.Sometimes one will stay and watch and be very interested and I will try to explain and I've even let a few take the shot. I've even taken a few and Emailed the finished product for them to compare with their phone shots. The response is mixed but every once in a while I hook one. I don't get this attention or interest when I shoot digital. NEVER I enjoy passing it along as much as I can. I'm no pro but a little push might get the price of film to come down if enough people get back into it. for me it's just a damn good way to spend the day.
