Hey Folks!
Thanks for all of the great (and sometimes realistic) feedback. That said, I am going to retire my 60D in favor of purchasing a weatherproof, bullet proof and ground proof FF camera, along with a padded sleeping bag, android phone, DSLR controller and OTG cable. I guess that some good options actually exist. Thanks again. (Webby)

One thing you can add to that list is a mini tripod. If you are doing lots of on-the-ground shooting, leave the camera attached, and use the Droid to see what the camera sees.

If you prefer wireless -

On one of my old F-1 SLRs, I had a removable pentaprism with a tilting "sportfinder." While not large like the modern screens, it solved a lot of problems. I'm not aware of any DSLR comparables.

My Miranda Sensorex had a viewfinder that would sit on top, in place of the penta - same with an old Nikon.

Swivi offer an external swivel LCD screen that plugs into several types of Canon cameras, including the 60D. The screen is 5.6inches and attaches via a bracket to the tripod socket and plugs in to the HDMI socket. It retails at £295.99 in the UK. Expect it's available on your side of the water?

I am using a CANON 60D and especially appreciate the tilting screen when horizontally focusing upon ground level nature subjects. (At 82 years, it is difficult for an old man to frequently lay down on my stomach.) Does anyone out there know that CANON might someday introduce a Full Frame model with the tilting (articulating) screen?

That's what I loved about my very first SLR, bought when I was 19 (50 years ago!) - the 'pentaprism' unclipped and the waist-level finder popped-in. Wish I still had it.

Another alternative are the flip-out-mirrors made especially for monitor screens that come in all sizes. They are usually under $15.00 bucks and work quite well ( you can move the mirror sideways or up and down, so in a way, a lot like a tilting screen.

Probably not when there's stuff like this available.

There are actually several low-priced 4 or 5 inch monitors on the market, and with the longer cords and a remote shutter trigger you can shoot from the ground while standing up.
