While the media and the left are blaming Cruz and the Republicans for the government shutdown, let's go back to the 2010 elections. The Democrats had done their damage, holding the Senate, House and White House and sliding through Obamacare while they had the opportunity. 2010 came along and the people spoke, putting Republicans securely in charge of the House and nearly taking control of the Senate. Since then the House has sent up smoke signals about 40 times by voting to repeal Obamacare. Apparently nobody took them seriously, but suddenly, when the House is needed for appropriations, everybody is surprised that members of the House have waited so long to try to change a law that was put into effect years ago!! Guess what? The American people voted the Republicans into office to do just that. They have a mandate from the people to do this job. They're hearing from their constituents, so do not expect them to back off the ball.

I think that the libs are so arrogant that that can not see what is happening.
for 5 years we hear BHO whine about BIPARTISANSHIP, but he refuses to talk to Republicans.
BHO and Reid shut the govt down, well most of it.
If he does not want to compromise so be it.
Congress will fund the government a chunk a time and let the democrats defend refusing Veterans, State parks, medical research etc.
Hope the republicans finally developed a SPINE

Ugh...don't get me started on the corrupt politics up here in Alaska (in my opinion.) How Senator Mark Begich (D) won his seat over now late Senator Ted Stevens (R) sickens me. And although Lisa Murkowski has an "R" after her name, she usually sides with the Democrats on many issues. And her election was anything but 'clean and pure.'
So when I hear "the people have spoken...deal with it," it gets me riled up sometimes. Lots of dirty politics in play up here. And sadly, it has repercussions for the country as a whole.

Mom....I read about some of the goings on in Alaska. However, I think as a whole our election system is good, and reflects the people's choice. I think I stand on good ground in saying that the American people dumped the Democratic majority in 2010.

Oh, I totally agree with you. :) I didn't mean to sound otherwise. I agree with all you wrote.
It just frustrates me that sometimes these kinds of elections are enough to create majorities, etc. And up here in Alaska there has definitely been some 'shenanigans' in the political realm.

An elderly man suffered a massive heart attack. The family drove wildly to get him to the emergency room.
After what seemed like a very long wait, the ER Doctor appeared, wearing his scrubs and a long face. Sadly, he said, "I'm afraid hes brain-dead, but his heart is still beating."
"Oh, Dear God," cried his wife, her hands clasped against her cheeks with shock. "We've never had a Republican in the family before!"
Most likely he was old, fat and white. Stereotypical Republican. Most likely has elephant tchotchkes around, too.

You are forgetting that the Federal Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) was passed by both houses of Congress and legally signed into law by the president.
Following this, Barrack Obama was re-elected president by a majority of the U.S. electorate.
We are not a banana republic, so calm down and suck it up my friend. Barrack Obama is your president and your leader. So unless you are prepared to succeed from the Union you are stuck with him for over three more long years.
As for your Ted Cruz, this punk is a senator for less than 10 months, has never authored a single bill into law and already imagines himself a "leader."
This should give you some idea of how bankrupt your own state is in terms of capable politicians.

Hey, Wait a second. BHO could not reduce the budget and let the government shut down. So now the blame is on the Republicans. Does that mean the Republicans 'reduced the budget'? If so, Isn't that a good start on Reducing the budget and while not controlling the oval office?

Barrack Obama Is not a leader.
Why does he put up a fence around the World War II Memorial on Monday but will not put up a fence to keep illegal aliens out?
