Worcester (MA) Firefighter Jon Davies, a 14 year veteran of the department, died in a fire while searching for occupants of a multi-family wood structure when the roof collapsed. His partner was also trapped and burned but is expected to survive.
This is the same department that lost 6 Fire Fighters on Dec. 3, 1999 when the floor collapsed in a multi alarm blaze in an old cold storage facility that was being used by "squatters".
RIP FF Jon Davies, End of Watch 12/8/2011.
Jeez Rocco....that is horrible...Sorry to hear that.
Firefighters and police are so often taken for granted for the dangerous jobs they unselfishly perform every day.
I hope his family will be honored by the community's demonstrations of respect.
My wife's cousin was a member of the fighting force for the cold storage fire. Youre right mister wilson, they truly are taken for granted. These brave heroes choose these jobs knowing, that when they wake every day, this day could be their last. Prayers for those who lost and also for those who still push on. Amen
So sad to hear of another "brother" gone in the line of duty. My husband is a firefighter in our city for 26 yrs and hopes to retire after 30yrs of service. He is a color/honor guard on the department and attended the service for the Worcester 6. I have a shirt with all the names of the fallen firefighters. My husband also had the honor to march through the burnt wreckage of the building and pay his deepest respects. I'll never forget that emotional day. I'm getting teary-eyed just remembering.
