Good news! Obamacare...a law with no teeth

Obamacare was designed as a wealth transfer scheme to take money from generally healthy young people who frequently don't even buy insurance and use those funds to pay for health care for the Geritol set (and buy votes, of course). But what happens if the youngsters refuse to be extorted? Oh, they'll be assessed a penalty....maybe. But what's not generally known is that if they don't buy the insurance and don't pay the penalty they cannot be forced to pay for either. There's no provision in the law to allow the government to issue liens and levies or criminal prosecution as there is when the government collects other tax debts. In fact the only folks who can even be assessed a penalty are those who file a federal tax return. So, don't worry about having to buy Obamacare insurance if you don't want it....it's only for the suckers!

The penalty is levied in your income tax. Of course you could stop paying income tax but that would be a felony.
The other problem with your thought process is insurance by its very nature is a method of spreading risk. If you were to only insure people who are already sick it would be unsustainable. So in order to cover everyone you need to cover healthy people as well. This is why large companies get cheaper rates than the average person. It is also the reason why prior to October 1st, the insurance companies wouldn't cover you, if you had a pre-existing condition or charge you more, simply because you were a woman.
No Obamacare isn't perfect, we should actually go into a single payer system like Medicare which runs more efficiently and cheaper than any insurance company. Or we could go into socialized medicine where the government owns the hospitals and employs the staff such as the way the V.A. runs now.
As the last industrialized country in the world to provide healthcare for all our citizens we simply cannot go back.

Medicare is run efficiently? It's so efficient and cheap that one must buy gap insurance to be able to afford what Medicare does not cover (assuming you find a Medicare doctor). 8-)

Well look at the figures. The overhead for medicare is 1%. The overhead for Medicare Advantage which is run by private insurance companies is 6%.
So who's doing a better job? The Government or the Private Insurers?

Have you actually compared what you get in the two systems? Both charge the same premium but the Medicare Advantage plans offer more benefits with low or NO deductible nor copay and the private companies still make a profit. How much "profit" is the gov't skimming off with the copays Medicare customers pay?

Medicare does not have advertising costs to compete with other insurers, that's why...

Seeing as you are in St Augustine (isn't that the retirement capital of Florida?) I've no doubt that the Government concentrates it's advertising there...Look at the rest of the country though. Not all retirees move to Florida...BTW, I do have TV & the only ads I see are from United Healthcare & others for the Medicare Advantage plans or the Medicare Supplement plans...Paid for by the respective insurers...

St. Augustine is beautiful and expensive (compared to other areas of Northern and Panhandle Florida)...however most of the retirees are along the SE and Gulf Coast....80% of Florida population is south of Sarasota....Naples is one of the highest income cities....average over $100,000/year

What I want to know is, how can Obama & the Democrats alter the ACA without having to go thru Congress? Delaying portions of it & changing other parts. I thought Congress wrote & amended laws...God knows the law as it stands today is very different than what was passed...

That's true but it is also true only a handful have shown the bullocks to stand up against this little Nazi.

Tell us how you really feel Connie, don't hold back.

Did you know that Obama once promised, during the campaign of 2008, that he was going to eliminate any federal income tax for seniors making under $50,000 a year. He further promised this would eliminate 27 million seniors from having to file any income tax return at all! Hear anything more about this? Think it may have been pandering just a bit? :-D
