I enjoy shooting hockey games, this season I hooked up with a Police & Firemen league. They play 15 minute periods with only one minute between periods. Which means that you are shooting about an hour or so for each game.
They play three games in the AM and by the end of the third game my hands are frozen. Between games I use the hand dryer in the men's room to warm up my ten digits.
Question, anyone know of gloves that help keep your hands warm but do not stop you from shooting the games? Could use all the help that you guys have out there.
I am thanking you all in advance for you assistance.

Try a pair of skeetshooting gloves. allow the "trigger finger" TO COME OUT OF THE GLOVE, WHILE KEEPING THE REST COVERED.

Mechanics gloves. Local auto parts store.
Get the ones with the velcro, not the elastic closure.

Don't know if this applies to your particular situation, but after working many years of outdoor construction, I learned that the real culprip is not the cold (easy to insulate) but humidity. I could make it through the day by carrying a dozen pair of $1 jersey gloves and changing as soon a they got wet.

Plan B: For about 50 cents a pop you can slip chemical hand warmers into a glove that will keep you roasty for a couple of hours.

8-) 8-) 8-) There are gloves on the market that have the tip of the index finger that open and allow the finger to operate camera buttons. When not needed the tip can be put back in place to cover the finger. I got mine from Amazon, just check their gloves. Not expensive, but valuable.

You have the perfect source for information right there in front of you. Find a beat cop and ask him/her what gloves are preferred by cops on the street who must keep their hands warm in gloves thin enough to allow them to draw a weapon and get a finger through the trigger guard in a hurry. If they can't give you an answer, find an Army, Marine or Seal sniper and have them get you a pair of cold weather shooting gloves. Failing all of the above, layer gloves; nylon very thin fashion gloves under a pair of police patrol gloves under army wool glove liners under army leather gloves.

Maybe a pair of golfer's gloves. They have holes for your fingers to go through. Or is that driving gloves...not sure.

I use the hand warmers you can buy at Home Depot when hunting. They are the chemical kind and I find they are too hot to wear inside my gloves but I can Duct Tape them to the back of the gloves, have full hand use and keep my old hands warm. Should work for photography.

I have tried lots of types of gloves, but find them all too fiddly when shooting an action event like hockey. I use the chemical warmers, also, but put one in each front coat pocket. During any lull in the action my hands go into those pockets and grip the warmers for as long as I have until the next shot. This is not an ideal remedy, but it's the best I have found.

Here's a trick I've found working outside on cars. I usually wear vinyl gloves to keep the grease off my hands. In the winter, I wear warm gloves over the vinyl, and the combination is better than a single pair of gloves. I can remove the outer gloves for detail work, and the vinyl gloves are better than bare hands.

Check hunting / fishing stores, like Cabelas, Gander mtn., look for fishing gloves with flip fingers, usually thin and waterproof, if not warm enough then go to shooting gloves for hunters,
Bob.

Right, but forget about mittens. Maybe get one of those cameras the astronauts use during space walks. And then get a pair of astronaut's gloves.
