Well Washington is officially shut down, I say good riddance! Let the government tear itself down, we will all be better off for it... If they can't see what they are doing to us then they don't belong there, it is long past time for them to come to their senses and if they can't then just leave it shuttered.

I understand what you're saying Geff but I can't help thinking about the families who are dependant on their paychecks and now have none. There has to be a better way.

I did not really want to see the government shutdown, but it is going to eventually shut us all down as there is no sanity in DC, the republican's will be brutalized for this while no one pays attention to the democrats spending us into a crisis that we will not be able to overcome, the dems in Washington are hardly any different than the Dems who ran Detroit or those in Illinois and California who have spent their cities and states into bankruptcy status, they can no longer afford to provide adequate necessary services... Our country is headed for the same... so those families are really a minor concern when put into proper perspective, we should be more focused on the future of this country.

It's "tough love" for the masses. No pain: no gain. Bring it on!

The government has been "shut down" approximately 17 times (too lazy to look up the exact number) and will soon be back up and running. The "the sky is falling media" will go back to searching for impending "disasters" and all those furloughed government workers will receive retroactive checks. Life will continue to chug along and hopefully we all can maintain our health and take lots of "keepers." For those on chit chat who actually take photos that is. :-D

Want to see a quick resolution to the shutdown? Suspend Congressional pay checks as well until an agreement is reached!

I don't know, they all seem to have a lot of money to wait this out. How about they are not allowed to leave the congressional chambers until this is sorted out. A rent a potty, no AC or heat, MREs for food, room temp water, no lemon, for something to drink. No aids, no change of clothes and no showers. Be over in a heartbeat I would figure.

Best suggestion I have heard yet. Now how do we get it to happen?

Nothing like that could ever happen. The very people targeted are the same people who would have to vote bring it about. What are the chances?

The politicians are in no hurry about this because very little if anything has changed in their lives. They are still shuffling through the halls of congress, patting each other on the back (or wherever), trysting with secretaries, and still cutting under-the-table deals like usual. So what if a few peons went home? No big deal to those who rarely see underlings, mush less associate with them. They will only be motivated by the possibility of not being re-elected, and they're are very aware that it will take a LONG TIME for the general public to be roused up from watch the NFL and MTV enough to notice anything has happened.
