Has anyone seen, or used this new Leica?
The specs seem really nice for the price- about $700.00

Wow, you must think UHH members have a direct link to the manufacturers. That camera was only officially announced on September 8th!
And, today is the 30th ...
Haha ha, now that's a funny.
It won't be ready to ship til Oct 4; but, I wonder what you UHH think of the specs for that price?

After comparing several Leica Models to their Panasonic counterparts I think I would save $200 and get the Panasonic DMC-LF1. Compare the specs:
http://www.dpreview.com/products/compare/side-by-side?products=leica_c112&products=panasonic_dmclf1Per dpreview, "The Leica C (Typ 112) is an enthusiast compact with a 12MP 1/1.7" MOS sensor, 28-200mm equivalent F2.0-5.9 zoom, and built-in 200k dot EVF. It offers such goodies as Full HD movie recording, optical image stabilisation, built-in Wi-Fi and NFC, and RAW format recording. If these specs look familiar, that's because this is essentially Leica's reworking of the Panasonic DMC-LF1. It'll be available in a choice of two rather fetching finishes, 'Dark Red' and 'Light Gold'."
Thank you, sbesaw
Does the "Leica" lens make any difference in UHH opinions?
or...can't I just buy the red dot for $200 and put it on my Panasonic?
More proof IMHO tha Lieca, once highly respected, is now just bling.
I bought a Leica as I wanted something light to carry on just goofing off trips. I will never buy another one as they don't furnish an instruction book. The camera is complicated enough that having the book would really be helpful but it doesn't come with the camera. You can download it but I need a book that I can just turn the page to get answers. They got me once but never again. I'd send it back but the paper wrapping got destroyed and I don't think Adorama will take it back. I will learn someday to do even more careful research.
One thing I noticed is no re-chargeable battery. A replacement battery costs $89.

That depends. Do you want to be seen with a LEICA, or just another P&S camera? To some people, image is as important as images.

The Leica page says that it comes in light gold and dark red, yet it shows silver and black. And the U. S. page spells it "colour."
http://us.leica-camera.com/photography/compact_cameras/leica_c/They say it has "an unusually large sensor" (1/1.7) that doesn't seem very large.

It's listed in the specs, though, along with a charger.

Well, I can't argue with that.
