After merging the three shots taken with the bracketing mode on camera, I save them into an HDR file in my photog. folder. But it wouldn't let me save them as a JPG, why not?

If this file is a 16 bit format you will have to convert to 8 bit format before you can save as jpg using PS CS3. Go to the top menu bar of PS CS3, select Image, then Mode, and then 8 Bits/Channel. I hope this solves your problem. Arnold
