When Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic) was ruled by Communists (1948 to 1989) there were no americans to be seen anywhere.Czechs were told americans are the bad guys and american culture is something perverted to be avoided at any cost.After the fall of Communism in 1989 americans flooded Prague,about 40000 making the Capital of Czech Republic their permanent home.
These photos were taken exactly a year ago in Prague with a pocket p&s Panasonic Zs7.

Interesting set, we had an adopted uncle in Czechoslovakia. Called Khali, had a motor company confiscated by the Russians. Had a daughter called Barbara I believe and a son. anyone know ?

Khali does not sound like a czech or slovak name.The motor company would not be nationalized by the Russians but by the Czech communist government. It would have to be around 1950,after that there was no private enterprise in Czechoslovakia.The communists took everything in the name of redistributing wealth/income inequality (which are current "talking points" of president Obama).Of course they never redistributed any wealth,they just made everybody miserable.That is called socialism.Former successful business owners were labeled "the exploiters of working class",their private property was also confiscated and many of them imprisoned for being "bourgeoise".Their children would be also punished for many years afterwards because they were of "bourgeoisie origin".That is how marxism works and the US is heading in the same direction.

Thank you Dixiegirl.First things changed toward the better but a lot of corrupted politicians came out of nowhere to change things for the worst.And the last few years Communists have been gaining power again.

So in what direction would you say the USA is headed ... it seems like every where we turn we are hated and yet every body can not seem to wait to be a US citizen ... the Obama Admin has taken the people down a road that we can not return from we are the laughing stock of the world... can't even win a a little war against a small country and haven't been able to for years where did the land of the proud and the brave go ???? We will be taken up in to the arms of the dragon like all of the other little countries if we don't pull our pants back up and strap on our boots and regain that pride that we had there in the second world war.I do not know how many of you out of the 60's remember the group Stephenwolf but they had a song then as true as any of the songs of today it was called "The Monster" if I knew how I would get it back on the air waves but I could see it would be banded .....ohhhhhh welllll. What direction? From my point of view the very wrong one.
Keep in mind I have 20 years of first hand experience how communist government operates and what socialism does to people.Commies never succeeded in brainwashing me,actually it immunized me against "smoke and mirrors" we have been fed since 2008.Marxist ideas are nothing new to me,I have heard Obama`s talking points before from the mouths of top East European communists.
Marxists always follow the same path starting with creating crises,dividing the nation with envy and class warfare,blaming everybody else for everything with no accountability whatever,making laws of their own without respecting existing laws,spying on their own people,creating dependency on the government,disarming the population etc.The next step is the loss of freedom,censorship is secretly activated and the regime starts secretly liquidating all opponents.Useful idiots will gladly help to turn in their friends and neighbors for saying anything negative about the government,many lives and families are destroyed in the process.Not a pretty picture , I had seen it all happen before.And yes,I agree with you about everything you said.Thanks.

I am not trying to find faults in everything but you are wrong claiming Russians confiscated your adopted uncle company.Sorry,it did not happen as yo say,Russians were not directly involved in nationalizing czech private enterprises.I was there and I know how things went so do not try to tell me how it was.If I write a note about New Zealand saying New Zealanders are raising elephants for wool would you correct me or not?
I never said name Khali was not correct,I said it does not sound like a czech or slovak name.It really does NOT,it sounds like an arabic name.Which does not mean Khali did not live overthere or that he did not own a company there.

All those photos were taken exactly a year ago.Starsky and Hutch surprised me as well,it is just a retro gimmick.As for the AmerikanaIII ballet I think it is fresh,situated in 50s.
Do not draw a false conclusion about Czech Republic running years behind the US,the opposte is the truth.E.g.US movies are shown there before the 1st showing in the US, the stores and malls are MUCH bigger than anything I have seen it the US,etc.
