Liberal voters

I didn't write this, a friend did, but I wish I had because it is very true...

In an attempt to be a little more sensitive to people's feelings, (So unlike my normal behavior) I would like to take this moment to applaud the Liberal voters. I realize that MOST of them have their hearts in the right place---they just want to help those less fortunate---it's their MINDS that have been warped by the rhetoric of the criminal liars in DC. I truly believe that most of them really want to make life easier for the less fortunate. They truly WANT to help, they just don't realize that what the liars are telling them is NOT HELPING AMERICA! When you allow an entire generation (or 5 or 6) to be lazy and live off the sweat of others, all you do is make the problem worse! All I really ask of you is to THINK FOR YOURSELVES! Do not allow the liars in DC to fool you. If we ALL just decided to say, "Screw it, I'm just gonna go on welfare and let the government take care of me!", WHERE WOULD THE MONEY COME FROM? If no one worked, there would be no taxes to pay for everything. It is just plain, simple common sense!

If it were only true. Conservatives have been screaming about "Welfare Queens" for ages; but the only problem is that while there are a small number of people who can be found who abuse every system (Gasp! even Capitalists who cheat and steal) the vast majority of people want to work, provide for their families, and live a productive life. You have a choice: you can believe that the world is essentially an evil place where everyone is trying to get over on his neighbors, or that the possibility exists that people can cooperate for each other's mutual benefit. Perhaps I am delusional in preferring to hope for the latter, but it's too depressing waking every morning believing someone is out to take advantage of me.

Hear, hear!!!

Good post, and better than the original post!

The 'welfare queens' are figments of the imaginations of people who don't know and don't feel.

These ideas are insults to the humanitarian ideals of our nation.

It's not true at all that I believe that the world is an evil place, I believe that the "Federal" government has no authority to provide any sort of social welfare programs. The liberals have perverted the meaning of the general welfare clause to mean anything they want, despite the words of the framers to the contrary. Only states have the authority to provide such tax supported welfare programs, but I still believe that is what charities are for, a real opportunity for your ideal world of people cooperating for each other's mutual benefit, rather than a compulsory government program.

Obviously another sorry soul who can't think for himself and therefore must parrot the leftist talking heads. I pity you.

Just keep working and paying your taxes. Generations of "figments" need your money.

I think that those of you who seem to be so good at thinking for yourselves may want to take the time to explore where the real waste in government is. We can afford to help those among us that are in need. We just need to reassess our priorities and stop trying to buy friendship from those who hate us and vow to destroy us, now there's some stupidity. These countries like Pakistan, Egypt and Afghanistan all smile pretty, shake our hand and tell us what we want to hear while we hand over billions. Meanwhile behind the scene they plot and support those who would seek our demise.

The very nature of conservative thought precludes their EVER BEING the "queens". It's just not a compatible lifestyle.

[quote] I believe that the "Federal" government has no authority to provide any sort of social welfare programs

First of all, we don't want or need your pity. It's always interesting that many Conservatives like you consider yourselves so superior, so correct, so informed, that you would deign to offer us with other opinions your condolences for being "so wrong".
Second, since when does government need to be granted authority to do what is in its citizens best interests? I suppose you would disagree and counter that social welfare of any kind does not fit that description, and contend that if the religious groups and charities were to fully provide for those in need, we wouldn't need the government to intervene. . . . that all this "providing" for the "weak" only creates sycophants and parasites. Capitalism is simultaneously the best system available and a zero sum game that creates winners and losers. In your world the losers, some through their poor choices but many through no fault of their own, would survive only through the kindness of strangers. That just hasn't been shown to work very well.

I’m a conservative and I’m going to give this “thinking for yourself” idea a shot. Seems some feel the government can’t do anything right when the other party is in the White House or has the majority in congress. Look folks, everything our government does isn’t wrong nor is it all bad. Before the government got involved in the regulation of things like orphanages, asylums, hospitals and so on the abuse was rampant and out of control and if you do a little research you’ll see that the abuse was the impetus behind the government’s involvement. Here’s another thought I had all by myself, if it’s so easy to abuse the welfare system why on earth are there so many homeless people living and dying under bridges in cardboard boxes in this country. The welfare system isn’t bad it just needs some responsible oversight and that calls for responsible representatives which leads us to responsible voters…whew! I’m done.

...and you have been successful in thinking for yourself. I believe your conclusions are not only correct but defensible. There are legitimate reasons for "government" and there are excessive applications of government. All of which brings me to the current idea of shutting down the government entirely. Seems pretty stupid, but if the only conclusion is that one must throw out the good with the bad then it is still stupid but plausible. We need politicians who remember that compromise and negotiations means not getting 100% of what they believe in.

Is that the best argument you can offer? I would expect better from a third grader.
