Returning to photography after a break of 25 years. In my 20s, living in Australia, I had a Canon A1 with various Canon and Tamron lenses. I was a hack photographer and mostly took record shots of things I saw, both natural and man made.
I now live in Texas. Earlier this month my beautiful and loving wife gave me a Canon 60D with an IS zoom lens and YN-565EX flash and I'm learning how to use this set up and relearning photography in general. Like the wireless remote flash operation and having a digital SLR rather than film.
Good for you Oz (and your loving wife). My switch to digital has been a great experience...always hated the wait to see the prints. ;-) Looking forward to your postings.
Welcome to the Hog OzTex. Digital is a liberating experience. When I first switched over my initial reaction to being able to see what I captured immediately and being able to change film speed (now ISO) to accommodate changing lighting was sooo cool. Can't imagine going back to film. ;)

Hi Oz. Welcome to the hog. Ill say you have a loving wife.....The 60D is an excellent camera. It will do everything you want. I too own a 60D. It is by far the best camera i have used, and im still learning its intricacies. I do recommend the "Magic Lantern Guide" book on the Canon 60D. It is very well written and in language for the everyday person. The author is Michael Guncheon....Good luck and post soon.
