I was up in the Arctic Circle about 5 years ago but at the wrong time of year to see these lights. You are very lucky to have seen them.

you can see them a few times a year form most northern states, If your away from lights and have a good view north, I have got them 4 times since June and 2 other times to much overcast to see them. but some shows are only 10mins long. you can go to spaceweather.com and get a idea of when to shoot and see up to date pics people take all most every day. Oh and thanks
