Sunday I saw the Light.....
Just couldn't act upon it. I have read articles and posts in which photographers describe light with superlatives. I really didn't understand what they were talking about, light is light right? This past weekend I finally understood. I set out on the drainage ditch early in the morning, dawn had just broke. As I approached the end of the run I noticed some fresh Sensitive Briar (Shrankia sp) blooms on top of the ridge. I got on my belly to take some pictures as the color was vivid, typical after a heavy rain. As I lay on my stomach a few honey bees landed on the flowers, harvesting nectar. As I watched them through the viewfinder breaks in the clouds would send beams of sunlight into the center of the flower, causing yellow waves of light to dance down the anthers to the tips. An absolutely brilliant light show, witnessed through a 180mm macro lens, dialed in at 1:1. It was at that moment, I finally understood how light can be good, no make that great. My mind started racing, thinking of different angles, times of days, different ways to capture it... Unfortunately, I didn't have my tripod so a long exposure shot was out of the question and I had to rely on flash to shoot the flowers with any semblance of DoF. I tried to stop the flash down but it overwhelmed the sunlight. That's alright, I look forward to visiting again this weekend with a tripod in hand. To be continuedÂ…Â….

Good luck at catching the wily substance. You look like you're off to a pretty good start.
Very nice. I especially like the last one.
Those flowers look really interesting. Looking forward to seeing the rays of sunlight dancing on the tips.
Looking forward to your sun ray shots. My favorite is the last one too. Looks like 4th of July fireworks going off.
I do a lot of Bird photography when I have the time and of course when it's peak breeding season. I no longer chase the shot with dull skies or harsh noon sun. Early mourning to about 9 AM I capture the light you speak of. Just about the time the light is perfect for fast shutter speeds and low ISO the magic is over..
Nice Captures by the way.
All -thank you for the comments and taking the time to look at my pictures. I do enjoy sharing them with ya'll.
Martin - I'm glad someone else has seen the light. I was explaining it to friends and coworkers and I got a few knitted brows......
