Eerie. Too, too, eerie.

Its a bit past midnight here. A little while ago, I thought I was hearing ringing in my ears. Then, I became aware that it was a steady ding-dong-ding-dong-ding-dong . . ., the tempo never changing, but the sound intensifying, then fading, intensifying, fading . . . . The Danes became restless, then began to howl. Son got up, I thought to fuss at the dogs for howling, but no, the eerie sound had awakened him. We opened the front door and found the sound coming from the east, much louder now that the door was opened, but still intensifying and fading. We walked the hundred yards to the end of the driveway. The moon is a little more than half full, a few clouds in the sky, but lots of stars. The sky is strangely dark although the moon is quite bright to look at. Once to the end of the drive, we could not tell if the sound was coming from the field across the road or from further away - perhaps much further away. It stopped. We turned to walk back to the house about halfway back down the drive, the sound began again. Ding, dong, ding, dong, ding, dong, ding, dong. Intensifying, fading, intensifying, fading. As I began to type this, a strange rattle/vibration began sounding from somewhere in the house. That has stopped now. Im not sure about the ding, dong, ding, dong. I will have to open the door again to be sure. No intensely bright lights and no bolts unscrewing themselves - yet. If I never post on this sight again, they beamed me up.
