taken late enening with tri pod no its not a sting. very hard to get with camera. some were shot with camera flash. hope everyone can see them. If you have suggestions please tell me.

I have had some success at spider webs later in the evening using flash. Sometimes if Mother Nature isn't co-operative by furnishing a pretty coating of dew for you, spritzing it very very gently with some water can make it more visible. It helps to get the web at the right angle with the sun....well, to get your camera at the right angle. Sometimes your eye sees it but the camera lens doesn't. Keep practicing and good luck.

maybe it was an itsy bitsy spider spinning a web and you might need to get up really close and use the Macro mode. But watch out, spiders have a whole bunch of eyes, and eight legs, and they jump on you without provocation and bite you on the back of your neck and inject you with poison from their needle-sharp fangs... On second thought, maybe you should think of trying to take pictures of other things besides spiders... say, cobra snakes, for instance.

You're welcome. Webs are hard to capture properly. I've met very few spiders who were co-operative enough to build their webs in the right place. Yours kinda looks like a clothesline??? Once I had a really ambitious spider in my backyard that built it's web from the clothesline to the ground. I told folks it was hungry and aiming to catch humans for dinner. :) :)

Yes does look like a rope but promis it is not. Like I said it spans 16' so i guess it has to be really big. I don't know much about bugs of any kind. Just tried something different for me

When I lived in NC I used to go out first thing in the morning and find webs. They had the morning dew on them and usually the light was great. Don't give up.

I moved from the mountains to the Yadkin Valley recently and I can't find spiders down here!!! The folks tell me they are here and I've been looking, but I must say they were much more plentiful back home!! Here are a couple I've managed to make since I've been here. Thanks for allowing me to share Johnny.
The first two were made during daylight hours, early morning and the others were made with a flash after dark. Doing the flash was hard to get a good focus 'cause I really couldn't see what I was shooting, but they turned out way better than I expected.
I'm sure there are some folks here who can help better than I can, but here's a start. Keep practicing. I certainly do and someday I know I'm gonna get that perfect spiderweb!! You will too.

I tried building a spider's web, once, using bailing twine but nearly went blind trying to do so. In addition, my stubby fingers were not much good for anything except making clumsy knots and the whole thing ended up looking more like poorly-made fishing net for flying fish. The only thing I ever caught with it was my little brother who accidentally ran into it and got his ear caught. The last I saw of that spider's web was in the corn crib where my dad was using it to patch a hole in the slats.
