Handheld about the only time I use my tripod is when shooting flowers in the shade and night shots.
The hover fly abdomen shot looks like a jewelry pin.
Still nice shots Hangman and makes me feel a little better about mine. Average wind speed in Amarillo is 14.47 mph so I'm always fighting it, it seems. Still waiting for a calm shooting day. :) Wish I had your post processing skills!
