Boberic, I agree, baby Hogs are kind of cute. But there aren't to many little Hogs on here, so I think it's the bigger, older, uglier Hogs from which it gets it's name.

The name hedgehog came into use around the year 1450, derived from the 1. Middle English heyghoge, from heyg, hegge ("hedge"), because it frequents hedgerows, and hoge, hogge ("hog"), from its piglike snout.

Photographers hide in hedgerows and the like, seeking camouflage from wildlife or trying to capture a candid shot of our own species, that big lens in front of our face resembling a snout. But, maybe WE aint so cute.

The originators of the forum must have a real 'funny bone' to have come up with the name. How in the heck did all of us get to or find this forum about photography with this name? As stated above nobody seems to know exactly, other than Admin, and I'm not sure even he/she knows. Have fun and enjoy the shared info, discussions, cussings', discourse, and photo's from people from around the globe. It might take a thick skin at times but I still have to have my daily fix of UHH. :D TNmike
