Hi Experts,
Can any one of you clear my doubt?
I have a 18-55 MM F/3.5-5.6 VR lens and 2.0X telephoto lens.
But some of my friends suggested that 18-105 mm (Kit Lens is much useful than this.)
can 18-55 MM lens + 2.0x photo lens can give the same result of 18-105 mm lens.
Based on the discussion, I am planning to buy the new 18-105 lens for my Nikon D90.
When you use a doubler (2x added lens) you double the lens length, and reduce lens' apertures by half, which means your zoom lens will have maximum aperture of f/7.
I agree with Nikonian - all else being equal, the 18-105 is better than the 2x approach. And at the 55mm end, the widest aperture drops to f/11.
Is the teleconverter a Nikon model? I was under the impression that the Nikon TCs will not physically mount to the kit lenses because of the two-stop impairment.
