OK
Every time the Tea Party gets mentioned here the name calling, the over top rhetoric, and slamming of their principles begins.

Can any of you actually list any illegal, or over the top activity the Tea Party has been involved in?

Keep it clean.

Perhaps not illegal but definately misdirected. I guess since siding with the Republicans they have completely lost all focus.

Who are the tea party? The rich who don't want to be taxed or the dim witted that think WWE isn't staged? Please tell me who is making congress despicable, flamboyant & stagnant? Personally I am a moderate Republican, well educated but by no means rich (def: making over $100k/year or sitting on a $1M retirement). Glad you opened the discussion and would also like to be educated on the matter.

I think the republicans have moved toward the tea party rather than the tea party moving to the " establishment " republicans. The Tea party had severe criticism for them as well.

No one ever said that what they are doing is illegal; just dumb.
If you believe that the Koch brothers have your best interest in mind then you are either a multi-millionaire or have been totally duped.

I don't think anyone believes that the TEA party engages in illegal activity. At least no more than other parties. About the worst they could be accused of is stupidity. The US has some of the lowest tax rates in the industrialized world. The TEA party seems to have easy answers to everything when in the real world governing fairly is a very complicated thing.

What's the deal with the picture you posted. I suppose that is an indication that this country was founded on Christian principles. If you're being intellectually honest you know that isn't true. only a few of the "founding fathers" had any significant religious beliefs.

I am constantly and exceedingly tickled by the oft quoted remarks similar to yours about the Koch brothers..... and as one poster has already mentioned.... George Soros is the darling of the left... before you accuse the Brothers, please tell us how you feel about brother George... Please..

Well, I am not sure about the last paragraph.... not enough facts... I do know how ever that the "Separation of Church and State" does not appear in any form or fashion in the U.S. Constitution..

It is true that the words "separation of church and state" do not appear in the constitution but it is implied. The first amendment reads "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." It was Thomas Jefferson who first expressed it as "A wall of separation between the church and state." This concept has been upheld many times in the supreme court over the last two centuries.

You are right.... they are "implied" maybe... but that vague implied is used by so many to justify so much of the PC crap that goes on about the subject.....

Congress shall make no law respecting an ESTABLISHMENT of religion nor PROHIBITING the free exercise therof... Is this the way we are doing things now....

Our little town and nearby little towns almost all have a creche on the courthouse Lawn during the Christmas season... I would wager that not a single person in any of the towns or surrounding countryside thinks for one minute that by allowing that little display that A RELIGION IS BEING ESTABLISHED....

One of the reason we are losing our rights right and left is that, as you say above.. The SUPREME court as well as the LOWER courts have decided to not Interpret law, but to MAKE LAW...

I am anti abortion (and will not involve myself in a pissing contest as to that...) but WHERE in CONSTITUTION does it even hint that Abortion is A CIVIL LIBERTY RIGHT...

enough.. going to bed.

The Tea Party is focused on government reform. Among its goals are limiting the size of the federal government, reducing government spending, lowering the national debt and opposing tax increases. There is certainly nothing illegal about that.
