An interview with Travesty
1) How long have you been into photography and what got you started?
Believe it or not I only purchased my first DSLR camera about 5 months ago. Before that I used my phone or snapshot cameras... I have always considered myself to be creative and artistic and for years have always looked at subjects and captured them in my mind or retained locations in the event I ever bought a camera.. I have always had a great appreciation for photography and there is no one thing that led me to getting into it besides the fact of wanting to capture moments in time.. It has become my obsession and creative outlet..
2) Have you had any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?
I have had no training whatsoever and really am a novice in the technical area of cameras, which is why my signature reads as it does.. Most of my work at this time is HDR processed of 3 exposures.. Anyone that has seen my portfolio would see that I touch on a lot of different subjects, so it would be hard for me to narrow it down to any kind..
3) What inspired you to take your winning shot?
I like the challenge of creating feeling and mood to my work.. I wanted to give an inanimate object feelings or wanted the viewer to sympathize with it.. I feel it worked..
4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup?
I used a Canon T3i with a Canon 18mm-55mm lens on a tripod.
The setup was an old crate with a desk lamp and standard light bulb..
5) Would you change anything if you could do it again?
No, I rarely go back from what I feel is right at the time.
6) If you couldn't do photography what else would you do?
Play guitar and sing.. Which I have done for years, but would do more if my photos were not my obsession at this time...

I have been taking pictures for more than 35 years off and on, but I've been re-inspired with the change to digital.
2) Have you had any formal training and what kind of photography do you do most?
No formal training and I love close-up photography.
3) What inspired you to take your winning shot?
I wouldn't really call it "inspiring" to photograph paper clips. It was definitely a challenge to come up with a creative way to set up the paper clips.
4) What equipment did you use and was there any special setup?
I used a Canon 90mm tilt-shift lens with an extension tube to get the close-up overall sharpness and shot it using in-camera HDR to tone down the high contrast.
5) Would you change anything if you could do it again?
No.
