Someone posted a photograph of bottles recently. Everyone was being nice, giving compliments. I just couldn't see it. If you're going to post a Still Life, where you are trying to use the light in an effective way, this is what I would expect. Here is a link to a photograph of bottles that really works. The light here is mesmerizing. I can't say I have the skill to do this, but it would be what I would want to shoot for.

Photographing bottles, highly reflective from every direction, is a very difficult task. Too easy to get Aunt Sal's face image on the surface tho she be in the next room. Having the room dark except for the very difussed light used for the image is one technique.

Nightski, note the quart bottles, the one that is dirty, coated with dust, is reflection-wise, clean. Analyze the reflections in each image and you will learn a lot regarding lighting and then you will photograph fruit rather than bottles... bottles will "mesmerize" you and you will no longer be responsible for your actions... GE, Sylvania, and Phillips will!!! Give it a good try next month on the night of the 31st deep in the woods.

Everyone please add your glass bottle photography experience to NightSki quiver of photo tools.

Dpullum, you failed to read my post. I am not interested in bottle photography. I was merely posting an example to all those who gave compliments to the bottle photography on this thread.

While I am no expert in bottle photography, even a kindergartner could see the difference between the bottle photos in each of these threads. I am often disappointed in the unwillingness for people to be honest when viewing photos here at UHH.

Please Dpullum, read what I post before answering. It would help if you used proper English and punctuation when responding. Sometimes it's hard for me to decipher exactly what you are trying to say, because you fail to do so.

My dear Nightski, Indeed I did read your post and by now I should be applying my training in special education techniques and not reply replying beyond the minimum to your comments. My apologies for not recognizing the problems and replying more skillfully.

If you had read your own post you would have seen: "The light here is mesmerizing. I can't say I have the skill to do this, but it would be what I would want to shoot for." This quote implies or infers (slight difference in word meaning) that there was a hint of an inquiry by you regarding the techniques used in photographing glass bottles. Sorry for my misinterpretation of your, so I thought, clear statement. Additionally Nightski, it is not all about you, tho others consider you ego-centric, I never have. My comments on techniques were aimed to all reading this post and viewing the "Mesmerizing" photos. There are others who may read this post who would benefit from my comments or add to each others techniques and comments of their own. Clearly that would be a mistake if they were to read the OP correctly. Again sorry, but my interpretation of UHH is that we share techniques again, I must be mistaken or misshapen in my view. Rather it is to vitriolic, but I think not. I take a positive view of UHH people.

In the future if you only want kudos and admiration for your posting... add the phrase "positive admiration comments only .... please, no details" thus your ego will gain with out technical changeling. By now I should have learned, again I apologize for inserting technique in an OP that just was your comment and directions to view. A find you amazing indeed you will never change, a sign of strength of character. Nothing will change my degree of admiration for you.

May I mention that you did not reference :
http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-149340-1.html in the OP! only in your reply to my comment. Sorry I failed mind reading 101.

You may reply to this if you wish but you are on my not watch list....poof, gone. What a waste of time.. I apologize to you and myself.

Most people do not ask for Critique and thus should not receive it unless they do.

If someone posts a poorly done photo, you do not have to respond, you can say something positive that has nothing to do with the photo, but you shouldn't tell them it's great, when it is not. That is unfair to them, and not very helpful.

Brent Harder has indicated to me that he always wants my honest opinion. That's why I felt it was okay to say what I said about this photo even though it is in the photo gallery.

You were correct Nightski, you responded to his request. It would seem the Bmac needs to tend to Bmacs business and stay away from others.
