I would like to know what others think of these pieces. I would appreciate honest (please do it in a kind manner) opinions of my work. I thank you in advance for taking time to help me out.

The top one is very nice but the sensor dust really detracts from it. The middle one is also interesting, but could use almost the entire bottom half cropped out - it doesn't add anything, and diminishes the jets themselves in the image. The bottom one is pretty much perfect, except for the minor lens flare in the lower left. Thus, the bottom line is minor technique adjustments will make your already artistically fine shots even better. :)

Thank you for your opinion. I have to agree on the ones of the jets. Also the lens flare I thought distracts from the photo but I know others sometimes "like" it. I really needed an outside opinion for it. The other info is also greatly appreciated. I respect the opinions of others who may have more experience than I do or at least can look at my work and see what I may miss. Again Thank you. I will see if I can correct the problem with the first one and make proper adjustments to the others.

I'm not convinced the photo of the jets needs to be cropped. The opposing corners balance well, especially top right and bottom left. In a way...the powerful visual of the clouds reminds me that even though we've concured flight, Mother Nature has it all over us! Great shots!

I'm with Jim, but sometimes a bit of flare works in a photo, I think it is OK in this particular photo.

Eric, the solar flare is OK, and hard to eliminate in shots like this. I was referring to the secondary lens flare in the lower left quadrant. That's the kind of thing that's sometimes caused by filters bouncing light back into the lens barrel.

My eyes went right to the sensor dust also. That could have been fixed in photoshop or other editor but you really need to get the sensor cleaned or if your comfortable with it get the right tools and do it yourself.

I'm looking at three very good photos, not the technical aspects of sensor dust. I hate picking on something that would take any rank amateur 5 seconds to correct.

Your work is very good. You have a keen eye for composition, contrast and color control. Keep up the good work. Now go off and clean your sensor. LOL :)

My only issue would be on the first pic with the dust spots. Otherwise really, really nice work.

On the third one, I used a Photoshop levels adjustment to compress the tonal values (added contrast). The original looked too washed out for my taste. A higher resolution version won't show the jpeg artifacts or noise in the darker values.

I honestly like the original version must better than the edit because you lost the sense of dimension, depth by losing the subtle differences in the mountain ranges flowing to the back of the scene. IMHO

Jim,

We are in agreement, we are both talking about the flare in the lower left corner.
