Defunding Obamacare

The message below was taken from an email I received from Kentucky Senator Rand Paul. I don't always agree with Rand Paul on everything, but I certainly DO agree with him about Obamacare.

The biggest problem with nearly all politicians is, they almost always put their chances for re-election ahead of the American public's best interests; right now, a very large percentage of politicians on BOTH sides of the aisle in Congress, realize that Obamacare is a certain "train wreck"; many of the Dems who fought to get it passed, are now speaking out against it, hoping to get it "defunded"; I don't really think there's a Republican member of the House or the Senate that would pass up a chance to repeal the whole thing if they were in the majority in the Senate, yet because they fear being "rejected" by the independents if a vote for defunding were to pass, many will simply take then "easy way out", and vote against a de-funding resolution.

Rand Paul is NOT among the "timid" in this issue;
Here's what Senator Paul has to say about it;

Everyone from small business owners to Big Labor bosses can see the “train wreck” coming.

In fact, that’s how one of my Democratic colleagues here in the U.S. Senate described the coming ObamaCare fiasco not long ago.

Yet some want you and me to believe they support repealing this outrageous boondoggle – while voting to fund it with our tax dollars!

I have a simple message on ObamaCare:

"If you fund it, you own it!"

With the U.S. House set to vote on a continuing resolution to fund the government, NOW is the time to act.

That's why I need your help right away to turn up the heat on your representative to take action to defund ObamaCare.

Opponents of ObamaCare must try to stop having it both ways – and stop being afraid of their own shadows.

Instead of trying to appear like they’re fighting, why don’t they actually fight?

If you agree, won’t you please sign your NO FUNDING FOR OBAMACARE Petition IMMEDIATELY?

With public outrage building against ObamaCare, now is the time you and I CAN force change.

Calls for delay or outright repeal of this law are coming from places you’d never expect – including from organized labor.

The Washington Post reported not long ago that even two-thirds of Democrats believe ObamaCare is all cost and no benefit.

85% of independents agree.

In fact, over the past few weeks - just as I've predicted - more and more mainstream news outlets are saying "ObamaCare is a prescription for a Democratic headache in 2014."

So in the face of numbers like these, will Congress continue to carry water for this failed policy?

I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of seeing politicians roll over for President Obama’s job-killing agenda.

The American public's overwhelming opposition to ObamaCare hasn't changed in the three years since President Obama twisted arms and Senate rules to RAM his healthcare takeover into law.

I'm committed to fighting until the day ObamaCare is taken off the books.

I'm confident - with your help - that's a day we can soon realize.

But you and I must prove that we're DEAD serious about winning this fight.

And that means sending a loud and clear signal to Congress that if "You fund it, you own it!"

So won't you please stand with me by signing your No Funding for ObamaCare petition TODAY?

I know many people on this forum are just as "against" Obamacare as I am; I have made "feelings" abundantly clear to ALL of my Representatives and both of my Senators, both by email and USPS; I hope everyone who agrees will do likewise.

Reality check.
Obamacare will not be defunded nor will it be repealed.
You all need to deal with that reality. Even Rafael aka Ted Cruz knows this and is pretty much admitted defeat.
If Mr. Paul can't see that then it will be his loss in the long term.
Truth is the GOP isn't serious about this but has used it as an if Obama is for it, we're against it platform.
Now the chickens have come home to roost and the GOP is fractured and fighting within the party will ultimately destroy them unless they let the adults take over.
Even if Paul's believe that the public is against Obamacare is true, he shouldn't confuse it with the public's support of shutting down the government because they don't.
Oddly enough the party mainly supported by old white guys is prepared to stop their social security checks to prove a point. Wonder what will happen then.
What a Country!

And what do you and like-minded Republicans, Libertarian, Tea Party whack-jobs offer to improve the delivery of health care in the US? We pay more than any other industrialized nation in the world, yet our outcomes, from life expectancy to infant mortality rates, are way below Canada, for example. We've been using the current model for a long, long time and it needs fixing. Where are the suggestions from the Republicans? Why can't they present a coherent program? Inquiring minds want to know.

Check your history. Mitt Romney introduced a program in Mass. very much like "ObamaCare." And the Heritage Foundation espoused the basics of both Romney's and Obama's programs. I never heard the Heritage folk accused of being Democrats! As I recall Richard Nixon tried for health care reform.

Or could it be that all Obama's opponents can offer is obstructionism? Sure looks like it!

Old black guys support your party...what a country! Oh, and ask the folks in Chicago how the 13 shooting victims are doing this morning; hope their Obbbacare will help them recover more quickly, as the staffing is cut. As they'll be joining Bubba's dream clinic in Cleveland that will be slashing $300 million from their budget and 3,000 employees from their payroll because they can't afford Bubba's care. But, keep on smacking the donkeycrat line...If its good for the rest of the country, why are the unions, hospitals, government employees, and businesses opting out...WHAT A COUNTRY!!

And again I ask: What plan do the Republicans have to fix the health care delivery system? Or will it be more of the same old "system," which has given us the highest percentage of uninsured people in the industrialized world?

It is a blot on our country when people have to beg for funds to heal an ailing child. Every time I see a mason jar in a convenience store asking alms for a family facing colossal medical costs I feel shame for my country.

The most common cause of personal bankruptcies is medical bills. For shame!

I'm waiting for a substantive proposal from the Republicans. Or are they willing to wreck the country because they can't get their way. They sound like a bunch of four year old spoiled brats.

What has happened to the Party of Lincoln, of Eisenhower, of George Romney, of Gerald Ford, of Nelson Rockefeller, all Republicans when that party had a heart and a brain and a conscience, not just rabid partisanship?

Hey George......That's a pretty ridiculous question you're asking ! If someone wrote a 2,500 page book about a "great replacement" for Obammycare, would YOU read it ?
You sound like just another "low-information" voter to me...........

Aint it the truth! I'm hoping that Obammy will "hire" Frank T with his obnoxious "in your face " avatar to be his next "Czar" for "low-information voters"! He seems to "know everything", (if you don't believe him, just ask him!) I'll bet if Obammy saw that stupid avatar, he'd want one just like it for himself!

Is that all you have to offer, Ralf? So you think calling someone a "terrorist" is gonna make YOU look like genius?

Which question is ridiculous? Asking what the Republicans would propose to fix the health care mess, or what has happened to Republicans? I don't consider either question ridiculous. I had hoped that this thread could remain civil, but you have stooped to personal insults. Sorry if I'm not current on Faux News, but that crowd is a waste of time.

So, let me understand this. Anyone who disagrees with you is a "low information voter." Now I consider that an insult, and stooping to such behavior suggests that you feel threatened by those who disagree with you, and that you are unable to defend your position intellectually. Too bad. I have better things to do than fight a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.

WNC Ralf, it is good that there are a few sane, reasonable voices in this thread. I'm always ready for a good DISCUSSION, but these ad hominem attacks suggest the flailing spasms of a bankrupt intellect.

BTW, how's the weather in the Carolina mountains? Wonderful country! My Flora and I have a week coming up in Bryson City in late October. Gonna ride that train! Jonesboro GA is a little too flat, and waaaay to hot! I'm basically a mountain person; my parents moved from the Richmond VA area to WV in 1967, about 25 miles south of Charleston. "Almost heaven..." except for mountain top removal! My father taught ChemEng at Tech and loved it and the area.
