i have a tripod...not sure what the iso means.....i tried several settings...appears the 3200 and 6400 come out most clear but the lower 200-400-800 somewhat distort....and the word aperture comes up a lot as well as the iso

Trailerman tell me about your equipment incld.brand...type of support while shooting, and shooting distance? Larry
fine pix 3200 s with tripod....i try to get about a foot from subject....
attached pics with settings
those are iso settings with camera in auto and i set the iso.....
Since I see you proper exposed image to ISO 200 and each shot looks clean (no blurr, fuzzy images) I assume the camera is well supported and fast enough to capture nite images, so your original post would have to do with camera support, and or finger prints on lens (joke of sorts)...otherwise try keep practicing with manual settings and write down what works or don't. support the camera, take shots of still or moving lights. you are often looking for what shape looks good even if blurry. Overall just find the fun and getting out of the house to do it. Larry
Oh the 3200 pops just a little more than the others with more depth (forground focus on gold orniment). Larry
HEY Trailer, get a tripod, go manuel F8 10sec at 100ASA
and ck your back, then adjust exp time to lock it in.
Tell the kids to go outside and play in the middle of the
road for a few minutes. (have fun) Bv

If you're a foot away, part of your problem may be depth of field. The images on UHH are low-res, so it's hard to determine the focal point. Any motion while you're shooting, even using a tripod, will introduce blur, but it will be uniform. You might want to shoot from further away and crop the resulting photo.
A longer exposure with a smaller aperture might help.
The ISO setting is like ASA on film: the higher the ISO value, the faster the film speed. However, the higher the ISO, the more problems you may encounter with noise and color aberration, depending on the lens quality and the camera's sensor.
please lord have mercy on me[my problem]. I think 3200 and 200 look best-the 6400 not bad-1600 is foggy..can't think of how to prevent light glare while keeping the rest properly exposed..so my recommendation[now comes the 'mercy'] take it to a good editing program[hope you know how-I don't]and work it over till it looks natural or as distorted as William might like..lol---joe
wish you the best of luck--joe
thank you for all your words on correct shots..im still shooting and we will see how the adjustments work
put it on auto....3200 is the setting and holding down shutter halfway till it gets clear then complete the shot..will try blinking lights and see if it works
