I bought this lens a few months ago from Amazon. I tried it out and it immediately made a "crunching" noise when it was focusing. I returned the lens. Has anyone else had this issue? I am reluctant to get another one. Thanks in advance. You guys on this site are terrific.

Hi MikeMck; I have had the Sigma 18-250 since 2005 I use it on a Nikon D-90. Never had a problem with this lens. Maybe the one you got was just defective, I love mine.............Mike

Thanks. This was supposed to be a "new revised" lens. I have read other comments from Amazon and several people have had the same problem. I just wondered how many of this site have experienced this.

I have several Sigma lenses including the 18-250mm and have never experienced any problems with them.

If that noise is still there, I don't think I would let the dust settle before returning the lens. My 18-250 is fine.

Yes you are exactly right. I sent it right back. I was just wondering if I should try another one.

Mine is great and I haven't heard that problem before. I wouldn't hesitate on a new lens. Depends on what they find wrong with yours. Keep is posted.

they do make a bit more noise than nikon , I have a sigma 10-20 mm. and I can hear it when it focus . it may sound like crunching to the untrained ear. but that is what it does . it still works fine . you will get used to it .

I've had my Sigma lens for about a month and have no issues.

Within the last 3 months I have returned 2 of these lenses and (given up) because of a rough spot when zooming the lens. Apparently their QC is lacking.

Thanks. I guess it wasn't just me after all.

I have read many times that a zoom is not a true macro lens in these pages . I for get the reason . but I read the same thing in photo magazines also .
