If you do, which do you use for what subjects?

Just curious.

Thanks.

I may not be the best to answer this, I have a Sony a100,
Nikon D3100, Nikon D3200, and a canon SX50 That I use 90% of the time. It is so handy for what I do.

I have a Canon 700D (T5i), Canon T1i, a Nikon P510, and a Sony p&s. The Nikon is great when I don't want to carry extra lens, etc. (I won't be keeping the T1i, passing it on to my daughter). They each serve a purpose. I can say that I bought a Nikon D5200 prior to purchasing the T5i. It had super color, wifi, and all that but when I compared the clarity of it with the T1i in full resolution, the Canon T1i was better. I returned it and purchased the T5i. I'm sure others won't agree. I think both are good cameras.

The difference is not Canon, Nikon or other camera the difference is full frame or cropped frame sensors.
I am also one who believes that the top names are equal overall, with some models having one or better things than the other brand.
I love my 7D but I am sure I would love any competing model.

Concerning digital, I only have Nikon (not counting the compact cameras).

However, for film I have both Nikon and Canon. Which I use depends mostly on the lens I want to use. If it weren't for lens non-compatibility between the two, I'd probably use the Canon most of the time because I like the ergonomics of it better - both shape and weight distribution. The more natural and unobtrusive a camera feels in your hands, the easier it is to compose great shots with I think. True for all cameras.

I use my Canon T3i for studio work, still life and such for the galleries, my Nikon D5200 for landscapes and buildings, my Olympus 620 for bird shots and my fun red Pentax kx for street photos since it looks like a toy and no one gets nervous.
They're all good and lots of fun.

Opposite here: DSLR is a Nikon, P&S a Canon.

I have owned both at the same time. At the top end, it wont matter thanks to Lightroom. They are all mostly going to produce the same RAW File when you get into the Prosumer/Flagship product lines. Consumer sensors are also pretty much neck and neck really anymore. Its more important that it feels good to hold and shoot with. Neither is better or worst at shooting any subject if you have the proper photo skills.

Nikon just felt better in my hand and imo better button placement. Canon did not feel great in my hand and I did not like that huge wheel on the back.

I dont allow my gear to dictate what I can or cant shoot.

You're not counting P&S, are you? :D I use either a Nikon D-something or a Sony NEX-6 or 7, depending on how much I want to carry.

I have Nikon DSLRs and Canon P&Ss (G-series).

I've used Nikon SLRs since 1968 - my first was a Nikomat F-something that I bought in Tokyo on my way to Vietnam. By the time I bought my first DSLR, I had so many F mount lenses that I couldn't think of buying anything but a Nikon.

I had several Fuji P&Ss over the past decade, but bought my wife a Canon G-12 a couple years ago for a trip. I used it and loved it, particularly since it has a viewfinder. (I can't get used to shooting with a LCD monitor rather than a viewfinder). Now I have a G-15.

If I'm planning to shoot, I'll have the DSLRs with me. Even if I'm not planning to shoot, I'll have them in the car most of the time. If I'm not planning to shoot, I always have the P&S with me.

By the way, my first DSLR was a D100. It's at the bottom of Lake Pend Oreille in northern Idaho. If anyone finds it, please send me an email.

My regular SLR's are Nikon and I love them. But I do have a Canon G-10 that I use for trips hunting or fishing because I can throw it in a backpack. It takes phenomenal pictures and I guess I could do 80% of my photography with just that camera. I do like playing with the different lenses though and like the macro shots with my 105 Nikon lens. For me the G-10 is a keeper due to light weight.
