Calibrating Monitor

Hi Everyone,
I am wondering how to go about insuring my monitor or lcd screen on my laptop, and/or Ipad is calibrated properly. I use the Ipad to view pictures sometimes before post processing. when I am away from my laptop. Naturally, I want to do this on the cheap, so to speak, if that is possible.

I use a Spyder 3 check it out http://www.amazon.com/Datacolor-DC-S3P100-Spyder-Pro/dp/B0037258L4 . This unit is fail proof and works great. You will also want to calibrate your printer if you print pictures.

Thanks, I 'll look into it. Lighting and proper color adjustment can be critical in some of the photos I take. I'm still new at it, and learning, but am really having fun. I take a lot of bad pictures, but every once in awhile one will be pretty good. Here's one I really like at this link:

That is awesome. I live in the Houston, Tx area, and it is hard to find places to get good clear sunsets. Keep shooting!
