I am in need of a good printing company for portrait work. I want nice textured prints with a lusture and sometimes metallic finish. Does anyone have a suggestion???

I use MPIX.com. They can do what you're asking for.

You can also "google" reviews for labs; labs should make evaluation prints available so you can compare results of the different labs.

I've been very happy with White House Custom Color (www.whcc.com).

Walmart! Where else can you find a photo lab tech that was trained stocking shelves on Ilse #3! :-) Kidding of course and no offense to Walmart people. Mpix is good as well as Bay Photo WHCC etc.

For a real shock, give Costco a try! Up to 24 x 36 with Lustre, textures, boards, everything but the framing. Only a few hours for anything and they are cheap without giving up nice quality. At least my local one is.

MT Shooter, I've heard that from others about Costco...I'll have to put that to the test, but for the most part I do not trust the quality of the prints at major markets. That would be a nice surprise because there is a Costco about 8 miles from my house and it would be fast and convenient. The only problem would be that someone would see me in there and then not want to pay my regular print prices due to the fact that they could get them done there. On the other hand if they are good enough and I'm offering a CD only package I could recommend Costco to my clients. worth a try.

I've had very good luck with Meridan Pro. They are located in Kansas. You have to download software that will allow you to select sizing and other options. Most all of these on line printers operate this way. Service is very good. I uploaded some images last Sunday, and received them the following Wednesday. I've been using them for about two years now. One thing to remember, if you do all your own photo editing, you need to check a box when ordering photos that says "do not color correct." If you don't do any editing and print them as they come out of your camera, then let the printer color correct which is the default setting.
