I think I am about to scratch Mr. Rockwell as a valid source. Lately, he has been on a terror beating Nikon down such as today in his "What's new" section. He is really pushing Canon etc... Part of what he states might be true to a degree but his statements claiming Nikon has not had or have great equipment and that Canon is and has been the leader since full frame came out flies in previous comments that he himself has made. I will agree I own Nikon and may be offended because of this, but do any of you have the same feelings???

I'm surprised your just now scratching him off your list: I did that several years back.

Well I tolerated most of his statements but he really seems to be on a rant the last 6 months.

When digital first came out I bought a Canon. Hated it! Used the Nikon p&s I bought my husband instead. Decided to go back to dslr and bought a Nikon D7000. Love it. Learned how to use it and to be fair pulled out the Canon to try it again. The next weekend the Canon went to the camera store and was traded for other items.Have Canons improved since my first one. I'm sure they have. Will I buy Canon again? Maybe, but not today. Nikon is my preference.

He's done pretty much the same to Canon in the past, but perhaps with more subtlety. When I'm looking for details on a particular product I'll read his reviews along side others, but I take what he says with a grain of salt.

I learned on a Nikon many years ago, an F3. After the kids grew up and I decided to get back into photography, I tried Canons but preferred the Nikons menu system and control functions. As many have stated here on UHH, there is not too much difference in any of the brands on capture quality. Functionality and individual fit mean so much more. Rockwell's rant really is unfounded except for his style of photography. His seemingly one sided rant against Nikon just seems extremely biased!

I shoot Canon and love it but I don't use Ken Rockwell for anything. I don't feel he is objective about anything. There are too many people trying to give the straight scoop without using him.

That's my point, he has raked Canon over the coals, so to speak, and now he has made a 180 degree turn and is doing the same on Nikon. It is like all of a sudden Canon can do no wrong and Nikon is a scourge and seemingly has been for years according to him. What a farce, my reasons for discounting his reliability in views on products. Too flippant IMHO!

He has very little credibility with me.
But he does have an interesting site with lots of information and some of it is even correct.
He also possibly has actually tested some of the equipment he reviews.
I have it from a source very close to him that he views the site as a bit of a joke and posts made up comments on purpose sometimes.

I am surprised that none of his fan boys have posted in this thread yet.

"fan boys," ? I took a workshop from him and another person and he was just as off the wall and really unpleasant. It would have been a waste of money except for the other guy, who was very nice and helpful.

Now here is, an opinion I might believe, you have seen and worked with him personally. The more I read of his evaluations I start seeing common threads that quite contradict each other. I personally will put him at the bottom of my list for evaluations on gear from now on. There are as some have stated, better opinions that are truer to reality out there. Many opinions have been made on UHH that are unbiased and closer to reality that I value over a lot of other sights. For fundamental info Ken would be an option but you have to weed through his BS to get the info.

Mr. Rockwell had a good thing going for a while, untill he started showing his inconsistent bias. Unfortunate, really. But don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. He does still have some experience and interesting points of view - just take them with a grain of salt, like you should any other enthusiast.

All Rockwell is saying is that he feels the Canon 6D is better than the Nikon D600 in some regards, and that the 6D is a better purchase... I wouldn't interpret that as "really pushing" the Canon label, or that Nikon is no good. He simply doesn't share the kind of obsessive, unbreakable camera brand loyalty many photographers seem to have.

Personally, I've found him to be a valuable source of information on a number of topics, particularly concerning older camera models. Information that I haven't found elsewhere, or at least not as clearly laid out.

No, that is not all he is saying.
