Going to get a P&S for my wife for Christmas.
I am looking at the Nikon Coolpix S3100 and the Olympus VR-320.
Does anybody on the forum have one of these and what's your opinion of it if you own one.
Please don't start arguments on brands. I use a Nikon but I am not brand dependent.

Being a Nikon user I bought my wife a Nikon Coolpix P&S as well and all I can say is she loves it. It takes great pics and is very user friendly.

I use the Nikon S6100 primarily for the WIDE 7x zoom, its great. Easy to use, touch screen controls, 16.2mp, and give GREAT pics for a P&S. On sale at Costco 2 weeks ago for $109 w/case a 4GB Class 4 card. Hard to beat.

I have looked at that one too. I just don't know that she would like a touch screen.
Her phone has one and she complains about it all the time.

S3100 to my wife in Sept. for her bday and she loves it. Has it all the time and she loves the ease with which it operates. She scrapbooks and feels the little bugger will make that hobby better do to the coolpix.

The Nikon 3100 isn't a point & shoot, it's a DSLR. It would be a perfect camera for your wife, it's an entery level DSLR wich means it's a camera for people just getting into DSLR's. Easy to use and takes fantastic pictures.

If it's too complicated, then don't buy her a DSLR, get her a Nikon P-100, it's a "bridge camera" it's the next step down from a DSLR. The next step down from a P-100 would be a Nikon L-120 wich is almost completly automatic. They run about $275.00.

A good super zoom in a P&S is the P500. My daughter has one and says after that she will never go to a DSLR, Loves the features and feel.

Yeah, she's just not into photography. Just something for snap shots. Thanks
