Cherish the moment. Mt Rainier is rated the most dangerous volcano in the world for potential for eruption. The northwest face has a very weak rock structure that has been weakened by gas emissions and is fragile. There are a multitude of earthquakes originating daily up to the 3.0 range. It has a very active magna chamber and a definite potential to change shape violently even more than St Helens.

I did cherrish the moment of climbing it. Amazing experioence, and I was fortunate that it didn't blow while I was on it! lol I also did visit the Mt. St. Helens mountain and visitor center. That was an amazing experince also. The visitor center is one of the best I have ever seen. If you are ever in the area it's worth it to check it out even though it is a few miles from the acutal mountain.

We've been there --done that several years ago. I'll have to dig out some old pictures. Also lived through the eruption. I didn't go to eastern WA for a year after that as all the ash was blowing around and ruining car engines. Four years later you could still see the ash caked along the interstate in the borrow pit.
