Nikon 35mm 1.8G Lens

I just picked up a barely used Nikon 35mm 1.8G lens in the box and all I can say is .... WOW! Extremely fast focus. I went to a birthday party yesterday and took 40 shots. 100% were in focus. Also there is no noise when focusing, or at least none I can hear. This is the lens I have been waiting for. On my D200 it is the equivalent of a 52.2mm FX lens which I was use to using on my old film camera. Needless to say I am very happy. Anyone else used this lens, would be interested in hearing your take!

Thanks

You bet! That lens is a sweetheart....I sometimes shoot local live music in mostly dim-lit venues, and the 35, 50,and 85mm f1.8 lenses are my favs.

One of the sharpest lenses in my bag and without a doubt the best bargain!

This is essentially the same thing. F2 and mine is F1.8.
Mine has a Silent Wave Motor in the lens to focus. I am not sure if the Canon version does or not. A Canon 35mm will be the equivalent of an FX 56mm lens since Canon DX cameras have a 1.6 crop factor.

Thanks, I'm either putting this, or the pancake lens on my wish list....

35mm is a good choice. 50mm translates into FX 80mm. Makes indoor shooting rather difficult especially in a small room where you are trying to get everything in the frame. I am sure you will be pleased with the 35mm. I am! :D

I agree with you on all three lenses. Great lenses for reasonable prices.
