Contest, a few suggestions???

My suggestion, if you don't mind:

I would love to know the equipment used for each shot, reason being:
1) It would definitely show the talent is not just the camera....
2) Only 1 photo per person. ( I have 100's of photo's I'd love to share, but, "slots", fill up fast and people lose interest, like me! :(
3) One great thing about this site is learning, with comments, "why", the photo is worth winning from people who know, we would all learn. ( I learned a simple thing by one comment somebody made and I did agree! I am giving the pic to my son for Christmas, cropped just the way it was suggested, thank you! :)
4) Shorter time frame. You may miss out, but you don't have to wait for another contest to come along!

I joined this site to learn, meet friends, which I have actually met one at a zoo, way cool and enjoy the beautiful photos from literally all over, awesome.
...just sayin'

1) It would be a good idea if the winner (or top 3, etc.) would post about how they took their photos.

2) Yes, looking at how things are working out, one photo per person is the way to go.

3) ^^#1

4) Yes. That makes sense. It looks like even as little as 3-5 days might be enough for a contest.

Cindy, why don't you start a contest and state the "rules" in the description?
I'd enter :-)

I think they are all valid ideas,

Hey Cindy...see if you can get them to maybe try this...
1. We need more people voting...maybe add somthing to the top...bottom of each page...or smack in the middle..kinda like the ads..."YOUR VOTE COUNTS"...or...."WE NEED YOU"...and click....takes you right to the polling page.
2. Instead of that feed back thing 0% under the avatar...maybe #votes
3. While at the polling page...maybe add a winners page after the end of each contest...so only those people can put the...."how...when..where...tech stuff" and all that. Also make it so anyone can vote...but ya gotta be a member to enter.
Just a few ideas maybe

I go along with most of the suggestions made already, but I think a time limit of 3 - 5 days is too short. Call me lazy, but I only tend to check on here every 3 days or so, so an "open" period of a week would be about right for me, and it is also bound to cover a weekend.

The 3-5 day thing is correct...unless, you have previous photos that you have and want to SHOW OFF so BAD.....lol
Really, using prior pics, seems OK, to me. We need critique on those, as well.
Fine tune to a great idea of having a contest. Like I said, I don't want to step on toes, just let more get involved! :)

I'm in !! As long as it doesn't have to be a photo taken just prior to the contest !! It's 15 degrees in this god forsaken state !

I think pics in our, "portfolios", are great, as well. We still took them! lol
As long as we use this as a learning tool, I think this kind of contest is great. So many people can critique on a professtional level...hmmmm....maybe a few professionals out there could vote and tell us, WHY, this particular pic won...I'm thinkin'.......hmmmm
Work in progress
