Tebow defended by KISS promoter

Here's an interesting interview with Gene Simmons, about arena football and Tim Tebow:

One paragraph:
“He’s got a religious passion, as well he should, we’re in America,” the KISS frontman told Radio.com earlier this week. ”He’s proud to be a Christian, what’s wrong with that? And yet, with sports media and pop culture media, they make fun of his religion. Really? In America? If he was wearing a burqa, they wouldn’t dare say anything [editor's note: only Muslim women wear burqas]. But if you’re a Christian, you get to be picked on? What the hell? The guy’s got family values. I never saw the media picking on Michael Vick for torturing dogs. Or this other football player, who’s alleged to have killed, committed murder. That’s ‘cool.’ But a guy who’s religious and has got family values isn’t ‘cool?’ He’s cool to me.”

Although there is a tiny, tiny grain of truth here, mostly it is not true at all - I have to say that I have NEVER ever heard anyone make fun of Tim Tebow because of his Christian faith. Some are amused by his PDC ( "public display of Christianity" ), but I think I have mostly heard an undertone of respect for the fact that he isn't afraid to display his faith. And that is because like so many others, Tebow doesn't seem to be a flaming hypocrite, but actually lives by his beliefs.

Isn't it great that there are still some Americans that have beliefs!

Tebow is doing something right if he's got people even like Simmons supporting him. Gene hasn't always been the straightest of family men himself.

Simmons knows he can make more money if he gets Tebow on his team ... not that there's anything wrong with that. Football is an entertainment sport, whether in a stadium or in an arena.
