This question/comment is specifically directed at one genre of television programming, but does apply to almost all of them..

I Love watching tv programming that involve OLD CARS and like OLDIE GOLDIES, I do not mean a 5 year old car... Or a song that was number one in 2012....

I was watching one today called "Tail fins and Chrome" and suddenly realized that I was almost through the entire program and not a single word had been "BEEEEPED"... I happened to have 3 of the same show on the DVR so watched them..NOPE, NO CURSE WORDS...
This set me to thinking and I first considered "My Classic Car" Never have heard a Curse word on there. Then there is "Pass Time" (a drag race show) and don't believe I have heard any curse words on it either.

Then I thought of "Loud and proud" (I think that is the name) it is hard to follow the narrative for the constant "BEEEEEEEPS", and then there is (or was?) West Coast Customs... WOW didn't need any narrative, only curse words...

You get the drift... The same can be applied to a great number of tv shows today...

Before I turn you loose to comment here... it is not that I am not an adult and I have heard those words, and yes I know that for better or worse that is the way a great deal of our population speak today..... The question I have here is...

Do you ENJOY either hearing the words (some are not Beeeeeped) or knowing that the participants in the program are unable to talk without uttering curse words...????

Don't bother telling me to shut off the TV,,,,,,, that is NOT the question....

Awaiting your reply....

Mike

At least some of the programs do use the Beeep. In a few years they probably won't bother, as society continues a downward slide.

I really depends on what I'm watching but for the most part I find the beeping to be very annoying. Just air what they say the beeping is worse than the cursing. With all the nudity, violence, blood and guts what's a few curse words?

enter Duck Dynasty...no need for bleeps with them good ole boys...!

and I for one find it very refreshing to be able to watch a show that doesn't use curse words.

I think that what passes for acceptable language on TV these days is deplorable.

Movies, TV...all full of deplorable garbage much of the time.

Honestly, I don't know why producers feel like every show has to drop s bombs and such...is the plot and dialogue that bad where there has to be some shock factor or we'll turn the channel?

They don't call it the Golden Age of Television for nothing. Tell me...is there anything on today as good as Jackie Gleason, Lucy, Dean Martin, Ray Charles, the Saturday morning lineup, the shows that taught good over evil (westerns), Hitchcock, Twilight Zone, need I go on?

If you complain about the content, I can guarantee that they will try to justify it by saying that the plot/script warranted it.

Perhaps they could choose a different script!

John...Hollywood doesn't care....they're actively trying to change the attitudes and mores of the American people.

A co-worker had ask me if I had seen the movie "Platoon". I hadn't so he begins to tell me how great it was and how much they used the F word. Why he thought it was so great with the dirty words, because that is the way people talk.

I don't talk that way.
